Helen cares for everyone who comes to the clinic at Ciudad de Refugio seeking relief from physical illness, as well as emotional and spiritual support in the midst of their trials. Each person is treated with compassion and care, and the necessary medications are provided. When further medical attention is needed, referrals are made for follow-up treatment at hospitals in Chiquimula and Guatemala City.

We are deeply grateful to our brothers and sisters in Christ who make this ministry possible. Through their generosity, prayers, and willingness to serve, they help us show God’s love to people who are going through difficult seasons.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
— Galatians 6:2

Bible Study in Pitahaya ❤️

We had a beautiful time together during our Bible study in Pitahaya. Today’s lesson was about the widow who gave everything she had as an offering to God. Her story reminded us that God does not simply look at what we give, but at the heart with which we give it.

She teaches us to surrender everything we have to God, not just what is left over. As Jesus said:

“She out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
— Luke 21:4

It was a beautiful reminder that true faith means trusting God completely and placing everything in His hands.

We also shared some little prizes and a cookie with each person. It was a simple but joyful time of fellowship, learning, and sharing God’s love with one another. ❤️

Urgent need! We have exactly what we need to run our regular ministries for the month of August with no extra money for any special requests. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Today, we come before you with a humble request for prayers and support for our beloved Nolvin Avalos, a 23-year-old young man who is going through a very difficult time with his health.

Nolvin underwent surgery for a rare brain tumor known as pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma. By God’s grace, he is conscious, alert, and has no motor deficits. However, he continues to face challenges, including diabetes insipidus as a complication of his condition.

His doctors have prescribed desmopressin to help stabilize him, and he now requires ongoing follow-up with hematology and endocrinology, as well as immunohistochemical studies to confirm the tumor’s profile. Additional laboratory tests and imaging studies will be needed to guide his subsequent treatment, and his medications may need to be adjusted as his condition progresses.

We ask you to please keep Nolvin in your prayers, asking the Lord to strengthen his body, comfort his spirit, and grant wisdom and discernment to his medical team. We also invite you to prayerfully consider providing financial support, as the costs of follow-up examinations, specialized studies, and medications are considerable. Your generosity will help ensure that Nolvin and other patients receives the care that they need.

He needs urgently Desmopressin but it’s $160. Plus, many other tests coming up. 🥲🙏🏽

Let us hold firmly to the promise found in Revelation 21:4: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Helen cares for the patients who come to the clinic seeking help and solutions for their illnesses and health conditions. In the midst of the difficulties they are facing, they come not only in search of medicine and treatment, but also for comfort, hope, and compassionate care.

Want to support missions? 🙏🏽What better way to support than a spaghetti lunch after church! 🍝 Here is some information on our House of Refuge! We would love to have you join us TODAY!

Since 2017, over 42 children have been sheltered at BBIC’s House of Refuge- having endured issues such as abandonment, abuse, malnutrition, and neglect before coming to the foster home. At the House of Refuge, these children receive nurturing love in a Christian environment supported with healthcare, quality nutrition, emotional support, and early childhood development. Nannies, physicians, social workers, nutritionists, and psychologists assist with the complex needs of these precious children who have had such a difficult start to their lives. The House of Refuge has received recognition of excellence from judges within the Guatemalan court system as well as from the country’s National Adoption Council.
