WHAT DO YOU DO when you come to a devotion like this that tells you to read Scripture first?

Do you skip over the Scripture and go straight to the devotion?

That’s what I almost did this morning—until the Lord convicted me.

And sadly, this isn’t the first time He’s had to correct me in this.

A while back, I was listening to a sermon on YouTube. As the pastor got ready to read his text, he said, “Now bear with me, I’m going to be reading about 17 verses.”

⏩ I immediately got ready to hit the fast-forward button.⏩

But just like this morning, the Lord stopped me and said:

WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT—GOD’S WORDS OR THEIR WORDS?

His Word is FAR more important than mere human words!

Every time you read His Word, it’s doing SOMETHING in your heart.

You may not feel like you got anything out of it in that moment…

BUT GOD…

He says His Word will NOT return void!

Isaiah 55:11 NLT
“It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.”

So even when you don’t feel it, His Word is producing fruit in your life.

There is NO substitute for the Word of God!

So I challenge you:

DON’T SKIP THE SCRIPTURES!

God’s Word can do more in you through a couple of verses than an entire devotion ever could.

Read the Word first. Let God speak before you listen to anyone else. ❤️
