We will resume our Sunday School classes tomorrow, starting at 9:30 AM, and we will have morning worship service at 10:30 AM. We are located at 99 Highway C, about 5 miles SE of Tuscumbia, MO.
Rev. Willis Jones will be preaching out of 1 Samuel 18 and 19 on what true friendship is all about, especially between believers in Christ, using the friendship of David and Jonathan as an example.
David and Jonathan were friends from the time they met until Jonathan died in battle, along with Jonathan's father, King Saul. King Saul wanted to put David to death because he was jealous of David's success in battle, and was afraid he'd push him off his Israelite throne. Jonathan refused to allow his dad's hatred of his best friend to destroy or ruin their friendship, and they were loyal to each other the the very end.
This is symbolic of the relationship believes have with our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is 100% loyal to us when we put our faith and trust in him. Jesus is such a friend to us that He will punish us and try to steer us away from sin when we disobey Him. Jesus is also there for us in the good times AND bad, and He'll never leave us even when the rest of the world may do so.
In our relationships, we need to be more like Jesus is with us: loyal, kind and not afraid to tell our friends when they've done wrong, and we need to accept correction from our friends when we've done wrong.
Pray that our church reaches the lost for Jesus Christ!!
