Day 5 of VBS: God Give Rest

The symbol is the dove which reminds us of God’s peace. God rescues His people so they may live in peace with Him. After the Lord delivered Israel, He gave them rest and peace. He restores what has been broken. His desire is not for endless fighting but for life with Him.

The shield depicts each of the five days of lessons.

God Hears
God Answers
God Delivers
God Defeats
God Gives Rest

The cross reminds us that all of these blessings come to us through Jesus Christ. He is the King who hears us, the Savior who answers us, the Deliverer who rescues us, the Victor who defeats our enemies, and the Prince of Peace who gives us rest.

Day 4 of VBS: God Defeats -- God sends victory.

The symbol is the broken chain which reminds us that Israel's slavery and oppression from their enemies was broken. The broken chains remind us that God's enemies do not win forever. God breaks the power of those who oppress His people and He sets the captives free. We have chains, not of iron, but of sin, death, and the power of the devil. But through his death and resurrection, Jesus broke those chains too.

Day 3 of VBS: God Delivers -- God sends a Deliverer

The symbol is the sword which reminds up God acts to save His people, He raises up deliverers, and He keeps His promises. The Lord rescued Israel through Ehud. The power was not in Ehud's sword, but in God Himself. God sent Jesus to rescue us from sin, death, and the devil. Jesus is the greater Deliverer.

Day 2 of VBS: God Answers -- The People Cry for Help

Thy symbol is the praying hands which remind us that God's people can always call upon Him. When Israel found themselves in trouble, they cried out to the Lord. They could not rescue themselves, but knew they needed God to help them. Prayer is the voice of faith.

Day 1 of VBS: God Hears -- The People Forget the Lord

The symbol is the crown which reminds us that the Lord is King. God rescued Israel and led them through the wilderness to the Promised Land. Yet they forgot the Lord and acted as though He was no longer their King. Israel forgot their King, but their King did not forget them.
