Are you in a tough season where joy feels hard to find?

There may be seasons when joy doesn’t come easily. Your circumstances may feel heavy, your heart may feel tired, and spiritually, you may feel like you’re walking through a dry place. But even when you don’t feel joyful, God is still present. As Nehemiah 8 reminds us that the joy of the Lord is our strength, His steadfast power remains to act as your anchor.

Don’t give up in the dry season. This chapter isn’t the end of your story. Keep walking, trusting, and looking to God. Joy can be renewed.

"Have you ever been so focused on where you’ve failed that you forgot to look at who God is?

When the people in Nehemiah’s day were confronted with their sin, they wept and mourned. But Nehemiah and Ezra didn’t allow them to remain consumed by despair. Their conviction was meant to lead them back to God, not leave them hopeless.

Sometimes we recognize how far we’ve fallen and become so focused on our failures that we forget the joy of who God is. Conviction can lead us to repentance, but God’s Word and His mercy can lead us from repentance to joy.

Are you letting your sin lead you back to God, or are you allowing guilt to keep you stuck in despair?

Today is Pastor Appreciation Day, and all through October we're celebrating the pastors who serve our First Baptist Tuscaloosa family!

So much of what they do goes far beyond Sunday mornings: praying, preparing, shepherding, encouraging, caring for people, and serving behind the scenes in ways most of us never see. Week after week, they faithfully lead all generations to seek the good of our neighbors and all God has next.

We're looking forward to seeing you tonight for MidWeek at First Baptist Tuscaloosa! Join us for a great meal beginning at 5 p.m., followed by small groups and other activities for all ages from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Tonight is the last night of Session 1 for Adult Small Groups; Session 2 begins next Wednesday, October 14. If you haven't joined a MidWeek small group, this is the time to do it!
