Port Royal Baptist Church's building had a fire which caused extensive smoke damage to the building. It is not yet safe to meet inside there, and we may be out of the building for some time.

Where will we worship?
For the next several weeks, we will gather for our Sunday morning worship services in New Castle at 137 South Main St. We thank our neighbors at The Berry Center for allowing us to meet in the Agrarian Culture Center.

Dear Community,
Usually, with bad weather approaching, we open our church as a storm shelter. However, this week we are unable to access our building or open it to the public until there are inspections completed after a fire. We hope to offer this in the future after inspections and repairs are complete. Thank you to everyone in our community who have offered prayers for us this week. We are grateful for your care and love.

A prayer for the second week of Advent:

God of peace, you know how this world is. You know how easily peace is stolen and wasted. You know how often we choose anything and everything but peace. You know all the reasons and ways we walk away from peace. Leave your peace with us this Advent season, O God, that we might learn to love it.

God of peace, you also know how this world can be. You know how peace can literally heal wounds and restore the earth. You know that peace is strong enough to withstand disagreement and debate. You know all that is required to make peace and sustain peace here and everywhere. Leave your peace with us this Advent season, O God, that we might burn bright and hot with its power.

Amen.

A Prayer for Halloween

God of laughter and joy, we give You thanks for the fun and festivity of this day. We give You thanks for the opportunity to have a laugh at things that might otherwise scare us. We give You thanks for opportunities to visit neighbors and friends in our communities. Keep all children safe as they revel in the joy of Halloween this night. Join them in their trick or treating. Fill their buckets with goodness and grace. Calm their stomachs and minds after all the candy. Enfold one and all in a love that journeys with us on windy days and costumed nights. We pray this with all the saints in heaven and on earth. Amen.
