Lola R. Lozano passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 1, 2026, in Turlock, California. Lola was born on May 14, 1938, in Peggs, Oklahoma to Wilkie and Nola Moore.

In September 1958, she married Ralph Joseph Lozano and settled in San Francisco. Lola worked for Pacific Bell and later worked in the tire business.

Lola and Ralph decided to retire in 1999 and enjoy their hobbies. They enjoyed fishing and boating in the San Joaquin, Delta and San Francisco Bay region. A portion of the retirement years was the enjoyment of breeding quarter horses on their ranch in Patterson, CA.

Lola is survived by her children, Ralph Jr. Lozano of Santa Rosa; and LaRae Lozano of Riverbank, California. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph, Sr.; and her daughter, Gina Lozano.

She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brianna Choate, Jenna Friedrich , and John Lozano of Modesto, California; her great-grandchildren, Austin Choate, Wren Choate, and Luke Choate of Brentwood, Tennessee; Jeremy Lozano of Modesto, California; and Max Friedrich of Oakdale, California.

Rachel “Raquel” T. Vasquez passed away on August 21, 2026. She was 80 years old.

Raquel was born in Alice, Texas on November 9, 1945 to Pedro and San Juana Vasquez. She was raised in Alice and received a 6th grade education. Raquel and her family relocated to California where she resided in Monterey County and Santa Cruz County before settling permanently in Stanislaus County. In her younger years, Raquel worked in a flower nursery. After that, she devoted her time taking care of her elderly parents until they passed. She worked as a caretaker and retired in 2003. Raquel was very creative. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She loved to spend time playing and watching TV with younger family members. Raquel was a Jehovah’s Witness for 64 years and served as a regular pioneer for several years. She loved teaching people about the Bible.

Raquel was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and San Juana Vasquez; her brothers, Jose, Jesus, Jose, and Pedro Jr. Vasquez; and her sisters, Maria Margot, Maria Magdalena Vasquez, and Olivia Ojeda.

She is survived by her siblings, Evangelina Garcia, Noe Vasquez, and Elizabeth Olivas. Raquel also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Raquel will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1400 East Ave., Turlock, CA, on September 5, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. A reception following the services will be held at Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway St., Turlock, CA.

Jorge Mendes entered into heavenly rest on August 24, 2026, at the age of 80.

Jorge was born on April 28, 1946 in S. Barbara, Teceira, Azores. He married his beloved wife, Merces Mendes, on June 20, 1971 in S. Bartolomeu. Jorge was a dairyman and worked at Land O’Lakes in Gustine, CA. He also worked in home repair. He loved gardening, home repair, landscaping, and fishing. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Jorge was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jaine Mendes; his mother, Virginia Silva; his siblings, Marino Mendes, Joe Mendes, and Maria Adelaide.

Jorge is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Maria Mendes; his children, George Mendes and James Mendes; his daughter-in-law, Maria Treviso Mendes; his grandchildren, Damian Mendes and Brisa Mendes; his sisters, Maria de Lurdes and Liberaline; and his sister-in-law, Albertina.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 starting with a visitation at Turlock Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Following the visitation, a recitation of the rosary and funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.

Brayam Francisco Macias passed away on August 19, 2026 at the age of 36 in Tijuana, B.C., Mexico. Known by family and friends as “Paco,” he was born on September 29, 1989 in Michoacán, Mexico.

Paco loved playing soccer. He spent his entire childhood on a soccer field. He loved serving the Lord and giving his testimony to people struggling and recovering from substance use disorder. He was a member of Fundacion Vida Plena.

Paco is survived by his life partner, Adriana Ramirez; and his daughter, Ariana Mily Macias. He also leaves behind his mother, Columba Macias; his father, Armando Macias; his siblings, Cesar Macias, Jazmin Tavizon, and Ruby Macias; his nephews, Jesse Hernandez, Cesar Jr. Macias, and Jayden Tavizon; his nieces, Neveah Macias and Cali Aguila; and his brother-in-law, Alex Tavizon.

Services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 starting with a viewing at Turlock Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00 a.m. Following the visitation, a funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place after the mass where Paco will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park.

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Maria Nichole Hoek, who entered into rest on August 20, 2026 at the age of 38. Born in Turlock, CA on February 28, 1988, Maria brought an unforgettable light and joy into our lives from the very beginning. A cherished daughter, sister and friend she lived her life with dignity, grace and kindness, leaving behind beautiful memories of a lovely young woman who possessed a beautiful soul with an amazing smile that will not soon be forgotten.

Maria grew up in Turlock, CA for most of her life only relocating once, when she moved to Stevinson, CA. After graduating high school at Pitman High in Turlock, Maria attended California State University, Stanislaus, graduating with her bachelor's degree in Bio/Science. Maria has been a long-time employee of a local area restaurant, The Farmers Den, and her entire work family has already expressed how deeply she will be missed.

Maria is survived by her parents, Gregory & Sara Hoek both of Bullhead City, AZ; her sister, Stacy Lee Hoek of Delhi, CA; her brother, Jason Gregory Hoek of Midland, TX; her niece, Kyra Lee Hoek Becerra of Delhi, CA; and her nephew, Jamison Gregory Hoek of Midland, TX; who both will never properly have the opportunity to know her. She is also survived by her long-time boyfriend, Lance Vierra of Stevinson, CA.

On August 17th, 2026 Lorraine Ruth Wall went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated care, deep faith, and warm memories stitched into the lives of everyone she loved.

Born on November 8, 1932, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Manuel and Hilda Christman. In 1951 Lorraine moved to Turlock, California when she was 19 years of age with her parents to begin a new life in the United States.

While working as a nurse’s aide at Emanuel Hospital in Turlock, she met the love of her life, Lowell Wall in 1954. They were soon married and began building a family together with the birth of their first son, Lydell, in 1955.

The year 1958 was a milestone for Lorraine: she proudly became a United States citizen and welcomed her second son, Lewellyn. Her daughter, Lynette, arrived the following year in 1959.

A natural caregiver with an enduring work ethic, Lorraine graduated from the Modesto Junior College nursing program and began her career as a licensed vocational nurse. Over the decades, she served her community with compassion and skill at both Modesto City Hospital and Doctors Hospital of Modesto. Following her retirement from nursing in 1993, Lorraine and Lowell moved to Oregon to enjoy their retirement years together.

Following Lowell’s passing in 1995, Lorraine returned to Modesto to be close to her beloved children and grandchildren.

George passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 83.

George was born in Hulbert, Oklahoma on February 6, 1943. George was a heavy truck mechanic, truck driver, and truck owner operate. George said to be the most skilled truck mechanic around, his natural inclination for all things mechanical allowed him in innately understand, diagnose, and repair all sorts of problems. Word has it, he was the guy to seek out when others couldn't fix it.

He loved horses and spent his life around them in any way he could. As he neared retirement, he was able to purchase some land in Stevenson and acquired a ranch house nearby that he had moved onto the property. He spent several years renovating it and making it into the home he always dreamed of. The property also allowed him to have the stables for his prized bloodline of horses he loved. He talked about how he wished he was born during the era of westward expansion (the old west). He was from Cherokee descent and later in life become very interested in his genealogy, spending countless hours tracing his family tree.

George also attended Freedom Church in Denair bringing him faith ,fellowship, and a sense of belonging. It also became a saving grace and source of strength for his family. He was a generous and nurturing soul but never wanted credit for it. Quiet and steadfast.

Anna Lucas passed away peacefully on August 15, at the age of 84. She was the beloved daughter of Aquilino and Luz Garcia and was lovingly raised with the support of her stepfather, Ramon Macias.

Anna shared 48 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Ralph Lucas, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Anna is survived by her four children: Suzanne (Jim) Weisser, Richard (Kathey) Lucas, Connie (Joe) Cusenza, and Jennifer (Rolland) Edgell; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, John (Ana) Garcia, dear cousins Bob Austin and David Austin, and her extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Garcia, who is survived by his wife, Lupita.

Anna enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved preparing food for everyone, bowling, casino trips, and sharing meaningful conversations. She especially treasured traditional family celebrations, including Halloween and making Christmas tamales.

Anna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home, followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, located at 1200 Lyons Avenue in Turlock.

Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California.

Mariane Elizabeth Wink First
February 24, 1942 – August 10, 2026
50-year Resident of Turlock, California

Mariane was born to Eugene and Hermina Wink in Anamosa, Iowa. Following graduation from Monticello High School, she enrolled in Paris Beauty Academy, where she earned her cosmetology license. On May 26, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) First, at Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Monticello, Iowa, and opened Mariane’s Style-O-Rama beauty salon, shortly thereafter. In 1976, Bill and Mariane brought their family to Turlock, California, where Mariane immersed herself into life in California and the greater Turlock community, including joining Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and helping form the Instructional Media Center for Turlock Unified School District. Mariane stayed active with Bill by enjoying time with family, playing cards with friends, and raising their three children Lance, Joleen and Marci.

She lived an energetic life — fiercely devoted to Jesus and her family, a devotion that showed up not in quiet moments but in constant motion. She'd roar up to work on Bill’s motorcycle, ready to style hair, coif the recently departed, or master whatever her trade demanded that day. Her curiosity never sat still: she programmed a Commodore 64, taught water aerobics, led Bible study, and moved effortlessly between crafts — sewing, knitting, woodworking, and jewelry-making — mastering each one in turn, all while sharpening...
