Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diocese of Urmia and Salmas – Iran
As the number of Chaldean faithful in Urmia increased, during the patriarchate of Patriarch Elias Abbo Al-Younan, the Chaldean Synod elected Father Thomas Odou as Bishop of the Diocese of Urmia in 1892. His consecration took place in the same year.
By 1896, the Chaldean Church in Urmia had approximately 6,000 faithful, 40 priests, and 18 churches, reflecting the flourishing Chaldean Christian presence in the region at that time.
Bishop Thomas Odou was martyred in 1918, during a very difficult period marked by persecution and great suffering for Christians in the region.
From 1930 until 1984, four bishops successively served the Diocese of Urmia:
Bishop Isaac Khoudabakhsh
Bishop Howel Zia
Bishop Zia Dashto
Bishop Samuel Shouriz
In 1982, Father Thomas Meram was elected Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Urmia and Salmas. In 1983, he was elected Bishop of the Diocese of Urmia.

ذكرى تأسيس أبرشية أورميا وسلماس - إيران
مع ازدياد عدد المؤمنين الكلدان في أورميا، في عهد البطريرك إيليا عبو اليونان، انتخب السينودس الكلداني الكاهن توما أودو في عام 1892 أسقفًا على أبرشية أورميا، وكان التنصيب في نفس السنة.
وفي عام 1896 كانت الكنيسة الكلدانية تضم 6000 مؤمن وأربعين كاهنًا و 18 كنيسة. واستشهد المطران توما أودو عام 1918، وفي سنة 1930 الى 1984 توالى أربعة أساقفة على أبرشية أورميا و هم اسحق خُداباخش، هاويل زيا، زيا دشتو، شموئيل شوريز.
عام 1982 انتخب الكاهن توماس ميرم مدبرًا على أبرشية أورميا وسلماس، وفي عام 1983 انتخب مطرانًا على أبرشية أورميا.
