Today’s FB shout out goes to Bruce United Methodist Church in Bruce, MS! They recently held an “All-Ages Vacation Bible School.” According to their Facebook post “We had so much fun at All-Ages Vacation Bible School this week! We learned parables from Jesus and acted them out, played games, and made crafts (some of which we’ll deliver to nursing home residents).”

We love seeing our churches learning together!

Guadalupe Flood Relief Special Offering Needed!
As we continue to assess the impact of the flooding along the Guadalupe River and surrounding communities, one of the most effective ways you can help right now is through financial gifts. Flood Buckets are an essential item with this type of disaster. Though we have a stockpile in the Kerrville Martinez Warehouse, many more will be needed. Your financial gift would be greatly appreciated.

You may send individual or church checks to; Rio Texas Conference Disaster Response Advance #2050, noting “Guadalupe River Flood” on your gift. Contributions can be sent directly to Rio Texas Disaster Response, 16400 Huebner Rd., San Antonio, TX 78248

100% of your generosity will support immediate needs in the affected areas.

As the flood waters recede, we will activate our Emergency Response Teams to come in and help with cleaning up and securing the areas affected. If you would like to assist, we will try to conduct an Emergency Training session in the area to qualify you to deploy. Stay tuned for information.
As always: follow our Facebook at RioTxDR or our webpage at www.riotexasresponse.org. for current updates.

Today’s FB shout out goes to Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch! This past Saturday, Maples Kids and Maples Choir joined the Destiny Center in packing lunches for their Summer Food Initiative. They packed over 500 lunches for children with food insecurity in their community. They also took this opportunity to present the blankets and stuffed animals that they collected for their foster kid comfort closet during VBS.

We love seeing our churches serving with multi-generational mission projects! Maples Memorial UMC is located at 8745 Goodman Rd, Olive Branch MS and is under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Kerry Powell. Photo cred: Maples Memorial FB page.

Today, June 24, 2025, has been designated as “Moving Day” and Sunday, July 6, 2025 has been designated as the first Sunday for new appointment for clergy in the Mississippi Annual Conference.

We are so grateful for the ministry of our clergy and churches, and we particularly give thanks to those who will be moving to new appointments outside our district and we welcome those who are moving in or are moving within the District. We look forward to continuing to see God at work in your lives.

As clergy and their families across the Conference are preparing to serve their new ministry areas and churches are preparing to welcome their new pastoral family, we once again offer this prayer written by Bishop R. Lawson Bryan of the South Georgia Annual Conference.

A Prayer for Moving Day
God of Love, You are with us in every transition and change. As we enter into this new day with excitement and even some anxiety, we recall your deep compassion, presence, and abounding love. We thank you for the gifts, talents and skills with which you have blessed us. We thank you for the experiences that have brought us to this moment. We thank you for the work of others that gives breadth and depth to our own work. Be with us as we move forward, rejoicing with you and supporting one another. We ask this in your Holy Name.
