What do you call 3 crows? (answer is at the end of this post)

Did you know crows are some of the smartest birds in the world?

If you've spent any time at Masonic Memorial Park, you've probably noticed our resident crows. But these familiar black birds are much more fascinating than they may appear! Here are 5 fun facts about these mighty black birds:

1) They can recognize human faces and remember people who have treated them well—or poorly.

2) They use tools to solve problems and can even create tools to help them reach food.

3) They learn from each other. Young crows can pick up behaviors by watching older birds.

4) They have complex communication. Crows use different calls to warn one another about danger, locate food, and communicate with their group.

5) Crows have been known to leave small objects as gifts for people who regularly feed or interact with them.

So the next time you see a crow perched on a monument or wandering across the grass, take a moment to appreciate just how remarkable your feathered neighbor really is. 🖤

🌿 Cemetery or Memorial Park — What's the Difference?

Did you know a memorial park is actually a type of cemetery?

Traditional cemeteries often feature upright monuments and a more formal layout. Memorial parks are generally designed with spacious lawns, trees, gardens, and pathways to create a peaceful, park-like setting.

While flat, lawn-level markers are common in memorial parks, they aren't the only option.

At Masonic Memorial Park, you'll find both upright monuments and flat markers throughout our beautifully landscaped grounds. Families can choose the type of memorial that best reflects their loved one while enjoying a peaceful place to visit, remember, and reflect.

🌳 It's not just about the memorial — it's about the setting and the memories made there.

Which do you prefer: an upright monument or a flat marker? Comment below👇

Our park is somewhat of a nature refuge with many different types of birds including, of course, the resident crows. We get visitors like Canadian geese who are just stopping in and we even had a Turkey at our door😲. We also get bunnies and lots of squirrels!

We are open to the public so you can stop by any time and see for yourself! Drop in and say hi if you have time. We're in the office from 9-5 on the weekdays:)

DID YOU KNOW?

Dandelions are one of the first food sources for many early-season pollinators!

While we do our best to control the dandies, we cannot get them all without waging war against mother nature, but we do have some fun w**d poppers in the office! We find it to be very therapeutic and we welcome anyone to come in and borrow one for a little nature therapy too🙂.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL PNW WEATHER!!

🌼 What do you really think about dandelions?

We'd love to know! Over the next few days, we'll be posting a few fun polls to learn how our community feels about one of nature's most debated flowers.

We would love to keep the cemetery environmentally friendly and the dandelions agree! After mowing, they come back before the next time. We are looking for solutions to this issue because there are lots of people and their pets walking around on the grounds. We want to keep our community safe and happy.

There are no right or wrong answers—we're simply curious. Whether you see dandelions as cheerful flowers, important food for pollinators, or pesky w**ds, your opinion matters.

Cast your vote and feel free to tell us why in the comments. We can't wait to see what everyone thinks! 🌼🐝

We had a blast last night at our community event! Hope to see you all next time🙂
