Sunday, August 23, 2026, was a historic day at First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa. With joy and gratitude, we officially welcomed the Beaty family to First Church and opened a new chapter of leadership with the Rev. Cameron Beaty as senior pastor. He joins a remarkable legacy as the ninth senior pastor in First Church’s 141-year history.
The day began with a lively welcome breakfast, complete with a First Church version of “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” a “Guess Who?” game to get to know the Beatys, Oklahoma trivia facts and even a special First Church forecast from our own meteorologist Michael Grogan. The morning also included gifts for the family, the presentation of a pastor’s robe to Rev. Beaty and, of course, more music featuring our state song, “Oklahoma!”
Then we gathered in the Sanctuary for Festival Sunday and one combined service of worship. With warmth, humor and thoughtful insight, Rev. Beaty brought Scripture to life as he preached “The Rightful King Has Landed” from Mark 1:14–15. Our worship team and Chancel Choir led us in singing, and the Sanctuary was filled with music, gratitude and joy for God’s provision. At the close of worship, the Chancel Choir offered a fitting and joyful finale—the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.
Later that afternoon, the celebration moved to Camp Loughridge for the Beaty Beachball Bash. Our First Church family gathered for swimming, Beaty beach balls, giveaways, Josh’s Sno Cones and even a diving contest. Fun, sun, laughter and fellowship were just right for a very hot Oklahoma August afternoon by the pool.
From breakfast to worship to one last splash off the diving board, it was a day of celebrating God’s faithfulness, welcoming the Beaty family and simply enjoying being together as a church family. We are grateful for the many First Church volunteers who generously shared their time, talents and energy to make this day so special.
A new chapter has begun at First Church, and we are grateful to begin it together.
