Show your love for others and for the Lord by your actions.

Genuine faith produces fruit.

“You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?” James 2:19-20

James continues with the theme that Genuine Faith produces fruit.

Genuine faith isn’t:
• Just intellectual assent (even the demons believe)
• Just an emotional response ( and they tremble)

Genuine faith is seen in our lives.

Genuine faith is evident in the fruit of our lives.

Authentic faith will be seen in the way I live. In the way I treat people. In the way I interact with God and others.

• Pray for our gathering – May we experience God’s presence and power.
• Prepare your heart – spend some time in quiet reflection
• Read James chapter 2 – allow the Spirit to begin to speak to you.

“My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others… if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin…” James 2:1, 9

James is reminding us that prejudice and partiality are not a part of genuine faith.

Are you prejudiced? Do you favor some people over others?
Are you drawn more to “successful” people than “less successful” people?
Are you impressed by wealth? Prestige? Status?

Or are you able to love your neighbor, no matter who they are?

James truly challenges us to live a genuine faith, doesn’t he?
