Bread of Life

Bread of Life Sunday AM 9:30-10:30 Intercessory prayer.
10:30 AM – We worship our Lord intermingled with prayer for one another, sharing scripture, a picture, or a word.

A gathering of believers centered, not only on the crucifixion of Christ for salvation but also on being crucified with Him to bring to death the "old man" that we may more accurately express Christ to our world here in the Tulsa area. Our intention is to stay focused in worship and share our gifts with one another. In this way, we feel that we can, not only honor our God, but many can be encourag

ed in their walk with Jesus. Following worship, we have a time of teaching. "When you gather for worship, each one of you be prepared with something that will be useful for all: Sing a hymn, teach a lesson, tell a story, lead a prayer, provide an insight." 1 Cor. 14:26

“Children spend much of their time with peers, whisked away from the worship service to kids’ church or sent off to youth group while their parents do a Bible study.

And even when different generations are physically together, not all adults feel comfortable—or permitted—to meaningfully engage kids who aren’t their own. Communal discipline is no longer the norm,” writes Nadya Williams.

“But our children need intergenerational relationships, and not only for healthy growth in social skills.”

Let me ask you a difficult question. Is it possible to stop division in the church? It has happened thousands of times. It is difficult for two to walk together if they aren't in agreement but not impossible if it is in minor differences. But when heresy slips in, which is an opinion varying from a true exposition of the faith or subtle era mixed with truth, then it seems to me that unity could only be achieved if one sacrifices the truth. And wouldn't that just be fulfilling the lust of seeking the approval of men? When we live life trying to find the approval of men, we won't find the approval of God. So doesn't it boil down to this............is it the love of God we seek or the love of men? I believe that if we seek God's love and His approval, then He will guide us in those critical decisions.

Our Vision of knowing Christ personally and deeply should always be foremost in our hearts and minds. Ministry should always be secondary. Why? Because when our Vision of knowing Christ is replaced or preempted by a vision of our mission on earth, Jesus ceases to be Lord and we cease being His slaves. Our mission becomes an idol and we then tend to build not with gold, silver and precious stones but with wood, hay, and stubble laboring with our cotton garments on. The wood, hay, and stubble are usually business type methods to promote and manipulate people to grow our organization and the organization inevitably replaces the life of God. This routinely happens in churches today with all sort of programs offered, making a church very attractive and a good sell to those looking for the various services. Today it is called Christian consumerism. Thus, the church becomes a user of people and God also, if it were possible!

A Format for Lament - The psalmists were shockingly candid with God, and through their wrestling, they modeled how to worship God with tears. Scripture never mandates that we constantly be upbeat. God wants us to come to Him in truth. And so the Bible doesn’t whitewash the raw emotions of its writers who cry out to God in anguish, fear, and frustration when life doesn’t make sense.

Those who wrestle want to understand, they want God to draw near, they want God’s presence in their pain. Lamenters work out their problems with God “with” God. As Clint Watkins says, “You may feel that God is being unloving or unmerciful. But instead of turning those feelings into a conclusion, lament helps you turn them into conversation”.

The truths we voice after lament are God infused. We learn to trust God even when we cannot understand our sorrows.

Discernment is not a matter of simply telling the difference between right and wrong; rather, it is telling the difference between right and almost right. -- Charles Spurgeon
