Happy Sunday, church family 🤍
“Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.””
Matthew 19:21 NIV
Life gets busy fast. New seasons begin, schedules fill up, stress rises, and it’s easy to drift without even realizing it.
Today’s reminder was powerful: when Jesus said “be perfect,” He was not handing out a performance checklist. He was exposing whatever stood between someone’s heart and wholehearted obedience. For one man, it was possessions. For someone else, it may be pride.
Control.
Fear.
Approval.
Bitterness.
Comfort.
Distraction.
Whatever we cling to more tightly than we cling to God will always keep us from following Him freely.
To “be perfect” is to let Him grow you up spiritually. To face the habits that keep you stuck, the attitudes that harden you, and the fears that keep you from trusting Him deeply.
It looks like forgiving when it hurts.
Surrendering when it’s uncomfortable.
Giving when it costs something.
Obeying before you feel ready.
Trusting Him when life makes less sense than ever.
Peter didn’t deny Jesus out of rebellion, but out of fear. How often do we do the same in smaller ways, leaning on our own understanding instead of trusting God when life feels uncertain?
Faith isn’t a one-time decision. Trusting God in an ever-changing life is a daily practice.
We’re praying this week our church family feels the Holy Spirit’s gentle nudge when distractions creep in, discernment when fear tries to lead, and peace that keeps drawing us back to Jesus.
If you’ve drifted, come back.
If you’re distracted, refocus.
If you’re weary, draw near.
Praise God that we don’t have to have it all together, we just have to be willing to trust him 🤍
