"Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are initiated into Christ's holy Church. We are incorporated into God's mighty acts of salvation, and given new birth through water and the Spirit."

What a joyful and sacred moment we shared this past Sunday! Bishop Laura Merrill and District Superintendent Rev. Jeff Jaynes joined our Alternative Worship community to celebrate the baptism of baby Beatrice, beloved daughter of Rev. Betsy Stewart-Dooley and Alex Dooley.

A beautiful reminder of God’s grace at work among us.

Winter Weather Closure
Dear Boston Avenue family,

With extreme cold and snow predicted for the coming days, we want to prioritize everyone’s safety. In addition to a high likelihood of dangerous road conditions, there is also a strong possibility of snow and ice on the parking lots, sidewalks, and steps into the building.

After reviewing the current forecasts, our leadership team has made the proactive decision to close our main building on Friday, January 23, beginning at 3 p.m. At this time, Boston Avenue Weekday School plans to continue providing aftercare in the Jubilee building. Should that plan change, families with enrolled children will be contacted directly by the Weekday School team.

All facilities will be closed on Saturday, January 24.

Our leadership team is still monitoring conditions and will make a final determination regarding Sunday as more information becomes available. Please watch your inbox and check our social media pages (Facebook and Instagram) for updates.

Should the facilities be closed on Sunday, we have made arrangements for worship - our ministers and worship team have pre-recorded this Sunday's service! In the event that we are closed, you can still join us at 11 a.m. for the traditional worship service via local television on KTUL-Channel 8, or online at www.youtube.com/bostonavenueumc, while the pre-recorded Alternative Worship service will be made available Sunday at 2 p.m., also on YouTube, as well as https://www.facebook.com/AltWorship. Should we be closed, Sunday school classes will have the option to meet via Zoom; please connect with your class leaders for more information.

While these decisions are never easy, the safety of our congregation and the wider community remains our top priority.

Sincerely,
The Boston Avenue UMC team

Join us in praying:
Gracious God, we give thanks for our church and its witness to Tulsa, the surrounding communities, and the wider world. We also recognize our gratitude in having ways to engage in worship without leaving our homes. We ask for your blessing upon our health and homes as we shelter in place. Be with all your children and especially those who are unsure about their possibilities for safety. We pray these things in Christ's holy name. Amen.
