In THREE days we kick off Celtic Rising VI! A FREE event benefiting VFW Post 577 Rental Banquet Hall !
We have our favorites: Regalia International Birds of Prey , King James V of Scotland and Queensferry Renaissance Festival plus Lunar Sea Sirens ! (Mermaids) who I am told will be beached with Pirate Fairies and ready for magical interactions with the wee ones. Speaking of Pirates...word on the wind is that there may also be a pirate invasion at our festival this year!
No need to worry though as our Highland Clans will be in attendance for Tartan Day! 🏴
The day kicks off at 10 am with armored combat demonstration: Deed of Service 2024 by Tattershall School of Defense and Company of the Lynx Argent lots of sword action and the clanging of metal. Pick your favorite and cheer them on.
We have music planned throughout the day with Highland Dancers from Everything Goes Dance Studio and to bring more Scottish culture to the table, our patrons are invited to kick up their heels with Scottish County Dancing lessons!
We have vendors as well!! Shop while you enjoy Scottish cuisine and fried Twinkies from our food trucks. Mead from Dancing Skeleton Meadery will also be available.
Some of the vendors you will find are:
Art Glass by Anne
Craft by Kitty Lynne
Unique creations by Rebecca Harden
Adams Celtic knot
Made in Delirium
Butterfly Spirit Creation and
Moira's Mania Crystals
A member of the VFW will be giving historic tours of the Post at 12:30 and 3 pm. The post has a rich, fabulous history and you will love this treat. Maybe then you can answer the question: is it haunted!? ;)
Two special events this year: Tea with King James V and His Court (at 2 pm) and a whisky tasting (4 pm)
After dark we kick off a proper Ceilidh! Music in the Centennial Lounge begins at 6 pm with CB Wilson, followed by Whiskey Priests and ending the night with Timothy O'Brian's Celtic Cheer
Whew! That's a day full of Celtic culture so grab yer kilt and head out to VFW Post 577. 1109 E 6th St, Tulsa.
