How you look at your situation matters.
Life is going to be lifing—that part is unavoidable. But how you see it makes all the difference.
In 1 Samuel 16, God sent Samuel to Jesse’s house to anoint the next king. Samuel focused on the outward appearance of Jesse’s sons—their stature, strength, and presence. But God reminded him that He does not look at what people see on the outside; God looks at the heart.
David wasn’t even in the room. He was out in the field tending sheep—dirty, overlooked, and seemingly insignificant. He didn’t look like the others. He didn’t fit the expectation. Yet God saw him differently. While others saw a shepherd boy, God saw a king.
That’s the lesson: you have to look at your situation differently.
What looks messy on the outside doesn’t mean joy and victory can’t come from it. Don’t focus on the mess—focus on how God is bringing you through. Don’t stare at the situation—look at the strategy God has given you. Don’t judge where you are by what you see right now—see it through God’s eyes and the direction He is taking you.
That’s why we can call those things that are not as though they were.
You’re not looking at appearances—you’re looking at the finished product.
You’re not trusting what you see—you’re trusting what God has promised and already shown you.
Because when God has spoken, the outcome is already settled.
