Little Blue House at the University of Tulsa

Little Blue House at the University of Tulsa Inclusive, interfaith, safe space for all students at TU. We focus on social justice for all!

At the LBH, we help students find a place to belong, encourage them to believe in something larger than themselves, and help them gain the leadership skills they need to build a just and inclusive community in Tulsa and in the wider world. LBH is a “ministry of inclusion” meaning that we believe everyone is a child of God and all are welcome regardless of faith tradition, race, gender, sexual orie

ntation, gender identity, national origin, age, ability, or background. We also welcome those who identify as “spiritual but not religious,” and those who don’t identify religiously at all. Social Media Policy:

Over the last year and a half, we have raised funds and collaborated with Ability Resources, Tulsa United Way, Provost Jennifer Airey, Kim Holland, and Tom Neal to make the Little Blue House wheelchair accessible. We’ve renovated the bathroom, expanded doorframes to the hallway and mutual aid closet, enhanced ramp access to the porch and house, and installed a protective ramp awning. Come celebrate these improvements with an afternoon cookout. We’ll provide the veggie dogs; you can add to the spread with sides, desserts, and nonalcoholic beverages! This event is come-and-go, so please feel free to drop by whenever you can during this window.

This week last year, the Little Blue House had the immense privilege of collaborating with friend and donor Kim Holland to create the East Holland Peace Garden, in honor of her late husband and longtime Tulsa civil servant Jim East. Jim is remembered for his witty sense of humor, for his savvy as a journalist and political adviser, and for being able to make friends wherever he went. Those of us who knew him miss his casual banter, certain to lift anyone’s spirits. We’re happy to have this ongoing partnership with Kim, with the goal of brightening anyone’s day who passes by our corner or takes a moment to relax and find peace in the garden. 💙✨

For the bubble tea, Elham and Yuhye wrote poetic and uplifting Persian and Korean messages and translations on the cups they served. Quoting the Persian poet Ferdowsi, one cup read: “Courage is of the heart, not of force.” We were nourished twice yesterday, by the gift of food and the gift of wisdom. 🫶🧋🫶
