Honest Faith
Devotional
Most of us have been there. You have prayed, waited, and tried everything you know to do, and nothing has changed. The problem is still there. The situation still looks the same. And if you are honest, part of you is starting to wonder if anything ever will change. There is a Father in Scripture who knew that feeling well. His son had suffered for years, and no one could help. When he finally came to Jesus, He did not show up with a polished, confident speech. He showed up honestly. He said, "I believe, but help my unbelief." And Jesus did not turn Him away. He met him right there, in the middle of his struggle, and changed everything. That is the kind of God we serve. He is not waiting for you to have it all together before He steps in. He is not looking for perfect faith. He is looking for honest faith. The kind that shows up even when it is tired. The kind that admits it is struggling but still reaches toward Him anyway. You do not have to pretend today. You do not have to manufacture confidence you do not feel. Just come as you are, tell Him the truth, and trust that He can handle your honesty. He has done it before, and He will do it again.
Bible Verse
"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." - Hebrews 11:1
Reflection Question
Is there an area in your life where you have been pretending to have more faith than you actually do, and what would it look like to bring that honestly before God today?
Quote
"Some of us are struggling with some things that we have been struggling with for a while. It's good to be honest in church."
Prayer
Lord, I come to You as I am, not as I wish I were. Help my unbelief, and meet me in the middle of my struggle just as You did for that Father long ago. Amen.
