Sacred Space Tucson

Sacred Space Tucson At Sacred Space Tucson, we cultivate compassion with listening, reflection and music in large group gatherings, listening circles, and small groups.

For more information, visit SacredSpaceCommunity.org Sacred Space, a new weekly gathering in Tucson for inspiration from the world's spiritual traditions and community connection, meets at Grace St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2331 East Adams Street, Sundays at 4:00 pm. There will be many COVID-safe protocols and you are invited to wear a mask, bring a chair (if easy for you), find a seat outside on

their outdoor labyrinth in front of the church, and practice physical distancing. (The labyrinth will be marked by chalk that indicates a safe distance for the placement of chairs — which we can provide for you as needed — and we will completely refrain from singing.) Meditation leaders will vary each week at the free and open non-faith and interfaith event for those who want to slow down, need a relaxed place for renewal and who are curious about wisdom traditions but wary of organized religion. Coupling contemplative wisdom with research-based practices, Sacred Space is a gathering for those who seek to live a meaningful life. In addition to the weekly gathering, Sacred Space will offer coaching, small groups and classes, all with the aim of bringing together resources to drive social change. Children are always welcome at Sacred Space. Free, easy parking is available and the building is handicap-accessible.

Gaining levity in a shook up world.

More often than not, Mary Oliver speaks directly to my condition. Today, she does it with this: "Sometimes, I grow weary of the days with all their fits and starts.”

When I allow a thousand kinds of trivia, showboating, and madness to fragment my attention, I lose sight of what's foundational, vital, and true. If I want to stay engaged with the world in a life-giving way, I need to take Aldo Leopold’s advice and “think like a mountain” more often than I do.

I’m keenly aware of what MLK said about “the fierce urgency of now” and the moral imperative to respond to it. At the same time, it’s crucial to take the long view.

From the top of a mountain, we can see the world steady and see it whole, and see ourselves more clearly as well. Then we can get a better read on where we’re most needed and called before we return to the fray.

I can’t climb a mountain today, but I can find other ways to reclaim my center and gain perspective. Please write a few words about how you do it. We get along with a little help from our friends!
