Unitarian Universalist Church-Tucson

Unitarian Universalist Church-Tucson UUCT is a liberal religious organization dedicated to individual spiritual development and broader social justice. Sunday services start at 10:30 am.

This sacred community is rooted in our search for meaning, guided by personal experience, diverse religious traditions, and scientific discovery. We are varied as the blooms in the Sonoran Desert, yet draw strength from one another. Envisioning a world where justice and compassion cross all borders, we pledge energy and resources to transform ourselves, this community, and the world around us.

Take a moment to pause and reflect:

God of Many Names and Mystery

God of many names and mystery beyond all our naming,
Persist in guiding us to a quiet measure of this moment,
That we might link heart to heart in the stillness and calm,
Leaving behind all scurrying and fury, rush and contempt
For the shore of this quiet moment.

We who remember those gone before,
In many corners of the land
Join in breath over breath
So that we might hold the suffering and care for the mourning
And celebrate with the joyful.
Today we pray over those in our midst who struggle
And appreciate those who have enough spirit to give today
We pray in the names of all those known and unknown, present and absent, remembered and forgotten.

We pray in the names of all helpers of humankind.
Amen.

“ Love Wins”

Worship Speaker: Rev. Jamili Omar

SAZCUUPS fall event is Friday, October 17. We will be celebrating an early Samhain with an informal ritual. We'll be honoring our ancestors (blood or otherwise), so please bring a photo, a small item that belonged to them, or a small portion of their favorite food for our altar table.

We're meeting at our parent church, the UU Church of Tucson (4831 E. 22nd St). We'll gather at 5pm MST, if you'd like to bring your dinner and eat together. And the ritual will begin at 6pm MST.

Sunday Worship, October 12, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holland Sanctuary

“ In These Times: Power and Pride”

We will have a guest minister leading us in worship this Sunday: Rev Ruth Rinehart. Rev Ruth’s connections to Unitarian Universalism go back to when her parents introduced her to a UU church in New Jersey in the mid-60’s. Her religious beliefs have also been strongly influenced by the Thich Nhat Hanh's Buddhist path and by her Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. She lives on her suburban permaculture homestead in Golden, CO. She founded the first-in-the-country recovery residence that welcomes all genders, Just Living Recovery, in Lakewood CO.

Sermon: "In These Times: Power and Pride.” There are more dangers now than ever in our country, especially for q***r folx and brown-skinned folx. This makes it vital for us to harness the power of community and mutual aid. Join Rev Ruth as we affirm our UU values and recognize that we are indeed made for these times.

Our October 2025, Share the Plate Recipient is Southern Arizona Senior Pride

https://soazseniorpride.org/

At Southern Arizona Senior Pride we recognize and respond to the unique concerns of LGBTQI+ older adults who are 55+ and their younger allies.

Southern Arizona Senior Pride is invested in empowering all LGBTQI+ older adults. We desire to claim all of the incredible diversity within our community. We are richer when all voices are heard, all cultures are respected and enjoyed, and all of us contribute to the well-being of each other individually and collectively. Resilience in our community is profoundly influenced by a sense of belonging. In a world where we are rejected, left out and invisible, belonging enables us to survive, find meaning and thrive.
