This Week in Worship

Sunday, August 23, 2026

It is the Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost, and we will celebrate worship in the sanctuary and at home via YouTube. Rev. Dr. Camille will be preaching, The End of the Law. Our scripture passages are Psalm 85:8-13 and Romans 10:5-15. Our hymns are: At the Name of Jesus; I Believe in God the Father; and Take My Life. We will post the recording of Sunday's worship services on our YouTube channel.

Fabric Collection for New Paraments

Margaret Williams is planning to make new paraments for Advent, Lent, and Easter, and wants to ask people to bring fabrics that she could use to make them. Blue, purple, white, and/or gold fabrics of any kind are needed. It could be old clothing, ties, pillowcases, tea towels, or any other scraps you might have. It's not necessary to buy new fabric, in fact we would prefer to recycle old things into something special. A short note indicating who donated the fabric and any information associated with it would also be appreciated. Please bring your fabric donations to the collection box in the Narthex through September 13th.

Free Memory Screenings: Tuesday, August 18th
Between 10:00 am and noon and 1:00 - 2:30 pm Peachtree Christian Health will be offering Memory Screenings “Screening with Care, Supporting with Compassion.” This screening is open to all adults, regardless of age and will be held in the Meeting Room. Back-to-School Carnival Recap What an incredible day at our Back-to-School Carnival! The event was filled with laughter, excitement, and enough bubbles to keep everyone smiling well into the evening. We welcomed an estimated 300 to 400 guests, including students, families, and community members. Throughout the day, volunteers painted little faces, assisted in creating spun art masterpieces, served countless bags of popcorn and handed out over 275 snow cones, creating what many are calling a "brain freeze epidemic" across the carnival grounds.
Of course, no great carnival is complete without a few unexpected adventures. This year's honorary mascots, two very funny llamas, became instant celebrities. Not to be outdone, three adventurous goats briefly escaped and embarked on a self-guided tour of the parking lot. They even seemed to want to follow a family home. Thankfully, all three goats were safely returned and seemed quite proud of their achievement.
Beyond the fun and festivities, the carnival successfully brought our community together as we launched a new school year. The smiles, laughter, and connections made throughout the day remind us that community is about more than popcorn and spin art. It is about building relationships, creating memories, and supporting one another.
Thank you to our 38 plus volunteers who helped make this event such a success. The popcorn may be gone, the snow cones may have melted, and the goats may have returned to custody, but the memories of this wonderful day will last all year long! Here's to a fantastic school year ahead
