Spoken Word, by Zaire King
Create in me
a clean heart, O God—
Not a rehearsed heart.
Not a religious heart.
Not a heart that knows how to perform in the sanctuary
but falls apart in the secret place.
I’m talking about a clean heart.
A heart that doesn’t just lift hands—
but lives holy.
A heart that doesn’t just sound right—
but is right.
A heart that doesn’t just speak power—
but walks in purity.
Create in me
a clean heart, O God!
Because I’ve seen what happens
when a man can preach
but can’t pray.
I’ve seen what happens
when gifting is high
but character is low.
I’ve seen what happens
when image is protected
but the inner man is dying.
So don’t just touch my mouth, Lord—
touch my motives.
Don’t just anoint my hands—
anoint my heart.
Don’t just give me a word for people—
give me a burden for holiness.
Create in me
a clean heart.
Burn out the pride.
Burn out the lust.
Burn out the anger.
Burn out the secret competition.
Burn out the need to be seen.
Burn out everything in me
that does not look like You.
And if it hurts—
do it anyway.
If it breaks me—
do it anyway.
If it strips me—
do it anyway.
Because I would rather limp into purpose
than run in the flesh.
Renew
a right spirit within me.
A spirit that stays low when You lift me high.
A spirit that stays pure when temptation comes close.
A spirit that stays focused when distractions call my name.
A spirit that stays faithful
when nobody notices,
nobody celebrates,
and nobody understands the cost.
Renew a right spirit within me!
Because this hour does not need more talented men—
it needs yielded men.
It does not need more noise—
it needs more oil.
It does not need more platforms—
it needs more altars.
So here I am, God—
Not hiding.
Not posing.
Not pretending.
Search me.
Try me.
Expose what’s in me.
And if You find anything in me
that will grieve Your Spirit,
kill it before it kills me.
If there is anything in me
that would make me hinder Your will,
tear it down.
If there is anything in me
that wants Your hand
but not Your heart,
rip it out by the root.
Create in me
a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Make me the same man in private
that I am in public.
Make me holy when nobody’s watching.
Make me honest when correction comes.
Make me broken enough to bow
and strong enough to obey.
And when You finish with me,
let my life preach.
Let my walk talk.
Let my spirit be clean.
Let my worship be real.
Let my house be whole.
Let my sons see truth.
Let my family feel the fire of a man
who has been with God.
Create in me
a clean heart, O God—
And let that cleansing
start with me.
If judgment begins at the house of God,
then let revival begin in the heart of Your servant.
In Jesus’ name.
AMEN 🙏🏾
