On August 14, Mecklenburg UMC will be providing the lakeside service at Taughannock Falls State Park, North Point.
Service starts at 8:00. The service will be a praise celebration through song. The hymns will be as follows:

A MESSAGE from Pastor Kate

WHAT IS ADVENT?

Advent starts on December 1st and continues through December 24th awaiting Christmas, the celebration of the birth of Jesus. All over the world, Christians and non-Christians alike fill this time with parties, gift giving, and eating extravagantly. The four Sundays before Christmas are celebrated in Christian churches with candles, special activities, and a focus on the children. Excitement builds as Christmas grows near. However, we may feel weary, worried, sad, angry, even filled with grief. We miss those who are not with us, and we wonder how to pay for everything.

This year, the MECKLENBURG UNITED METHODIST CHURCH will not be having a special Blue Christmas service. Instead, the themes of Blue Christmas--loss, despair, anger, and anxiety that we all may face in this season, will be included in our Sunday Advent services, as we look for renewal and joy.

We gather at 9:30. Our themes:
December 1st: HOPE—bringing light to our darkness
December 8th: FAITH AS THE WAY— remembering to believe in hard times
December 15th: JOY—coming together to care for one another
December 22nd: PEACE---daring to say yes to God’s grace
December 24th: CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE (7pm)

The Mecklenburg UMC will hold its annual Fall Luncheon on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Check-It-Out Shop, next door to the church.
Pulled Pork barbecue, soup, desserts, and lots of friendly people!
PLUS, that day is also the day that the Check-It-Out Shop will be closing for the season. This means a BIG SALE on items - fill a box or a bag and pay ONE PRICE for all! Box sizes vary, and the price is matched to the box size, with a $10.00 maximum price. You should "check it out!"
