The St. John Philoptochos from Sterling Heights, MI has been busy this summer. Even though they do not physically meet in the summer, the ladies of St. John Philoptochos continue to help those in need. Thank you to all who donated to our flip-flop, slides and slippers drive in the month of July. Over 100 pair were donated to our local, Friends of Foster Kids. These will be distributed as needed throughout the year. Secondly, because back to school preparations begin way before September, our chapter donated school supplies to Focus Detroit. These will help students who are in need to start the year off strong. If you’d like to know more about what Philoptochos does please join in for the first meeting on September 14th. National Philoptochos President Debbie George visited the Holy Trinity Philloptochos in Grand Rapids, MI this past Sunday. Their chapter has been busy collecting school supplies and had a collection for people affected by the fires in Spokane. Philoptochos member Linda Triant’s son Fr. Daniel Triant is sheltering many of those that have lost their homes in his church Holy Trinity in Spokane. He grew up in Grand Rapids.

Ann Arbor’s “Good Samaritan” chapter has been busy this summer! During July, parishioners were very generous during our annual “Baby Food and Formula Drive” for the Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti. The Clinic provides free medical/dental services to those who qualify as well as a pharmacy, food pantry, and counseling services. Artemis Alex and Nick Roopas delivered our donation and were met and greeted by their staff. The Clinic thanked us for our donation and our support of their efforts in helping others—and this time for helping the little ones!
