Beloved Faithful of our Holy Metropolis,
The awesome celebration of Great and Holy Pascha is once again at hand. By His Resurrection nearly 2000 years ago Jesus Christ has opened the doors of Paradise to humanity, and they remain open to all who truly follow Him in each generation. The Resurrection is both a temporal moment, and an eternal reality. In this way, each generation, and each of us, can fully participate in the passion, death, and life-giving Resurrection of our Lord on the third day.
However, we sometimes get stuck on the periphery and focus too much on the temporal things: lamb, Easter eggs, and chocolate bunnies — or even familial celebrations. How easy it is for our attention to drift! Further, we can all see the difficulties that the world presents to us: the misuse of technology, relationships formed on benefits instead of loving sacrifice, or egotistical individualism being the cornerstone of life.
We overcome these difficulties because we have received the power of God. We have received His strength and hope from the Resurrection of Christ! The truth of the Paschal event is that we are, once again, given an opportunity to “come to ourselves,” to pick up from wherever we have been, and to be spiritually renewed in the Resurrection with “the promise of good things to come.”
In a few words, each one of us can acknowledge the mistakes we have made, ways in which we should have done something differently, or how we could have responded to someone in a more loving manner. But know that right now, we have been given the path and occasion to repent of those errors with the blessing of God, through our Baptism, for the purpose of one goal in mind: to be with Christ in the Glory of His Kingdom.
I, your Metropolitan and servant of Jesus, alongside the Clergy and Metropolis Council, extend to all of you, our wishes for a blessed Pascha and true renewal of our lives in Christ.
Kali Anastasi!
