We are a community of Christians dedicated to Exalting God, Proclaiming Christ, and Making Disciples. This is more than just a phrase- it’s a lifestyle. These are the three things all Christians are called to do every day, not just on Sunday, and not just every now and then. These three actions guide everything we do as a church. Our ministries and ministry partners allow us to reach out to our co
mmunity and our world in tangible ways. From supporting local ministries such as the Hope 7 Food Pantry, InterVarsity, and Capital District Youth for Christ, to working with missionaries and mission organizations providing support to various people around the world, we thrive on being a blessing to others through love and service. We encourage you to join us in this mission and experience the life-changing joy that comes from following Jesus Christ! Ministry at Third Church is divided into three main areas – Upward Ministry, Outward Ministry, and Inward Ministry. Upward Ministry includes the areas of worship and prayer. At Third Church, we believe there are four key purposes for worship: To encounter God- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; to give God our praise and adoration; to receive God's empowering, healing touch; and to celebrate our life in Christ in community. Music is an important element of our worship together. Third Church's music ministry consists of a choir and an acoustic worship team. Both groups regularly lead the congregation in worship through song. We offer several ways to participate in our prayer ministry, including a group that meets at 8:30 every Sunday morning to pray for a variety of church, community and world concerns. Outward Ministry includes activities that reach out to our community and serve those in need. Some of our mission partners are Capital City Rescue Mission, Hope 7 Community Center, Youth for Christ, and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at RPI and Russell Sage. We also support a variety of global ministries including Youth for Christ in Bangladesh and ReachAcross in East Africa. Inward Ministry includes the ways we minister to the faith family of Third Church. This includes our Christian Nurture program that includes a variety of Bible study opportunities, as well as Sunday School classes for children and adults that meet throughout the year at various times. Third Church also acts as a host for AA and Al-Anon Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Visit their website at http://www.al-anon-8ny.org for more information on those meetings.
