Scripture lesson for today: 2 Corinthians 11: 1-15
“But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.” “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.” 2 Corinthians 11: 3-4; 13-15 NIV
Satan will distort every word of Christ that he can through filling our heads with false meanings of God’s Word. Yes, he will use scripture to turn us away from Jesus for he knows that if he does not, then he will never replace God. He is a master of words and he will twist the truth into falseness. Many will follow his twisted deceptions of God’s Word because they might even make sense in this world. But let us remember that Jesus in not of this world, nor are we to be.
Prayer: Almighty God, giver of all wisdom, your grace endures forever. Grant us the promised wisdom of your Word, not as man wants it to be seen, but as you want it to be known. We stand in expectation for this blessing. Amen.

Scripture lesson for today: Titus 2: 11-14
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” NIV
Will there ever be a time where a “No” is not needed against the deceptions, temptations, and lies that Satan feeds us? The answer is “No”, at least not until Christ returns and puts an end to Satan. Satan and his evilness will be present in our lives until then and each and every day Satan dreams up new ways to tempt us and deceive us. He finds our weaknesses and exploits them. He will never stop; he is set upon destroying everyone that he can. But thanks be to God, Satan’s traps do not have to be lethal. God has given us His Spirit who will teach us the ways of holy and righteous living. Are you ready to go “back to school” and allow the Holy Spirit to teach us?
Prayer: God and Father of Grace, teach us your ways that we may be made holy and righteous in your sight. Create in us a clean heart acceptable to you, so that we may be your servants in helping others to say “No” to sin and those evil temptations that Satan places upon us all. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Scripture lesson for today: Romans 13: 11-14
“And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in or**es and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”
The signs are ever present in our lives—Jesus calls us to follow Him—to have a relationship with Him.
He longs to take us out of the darkness of this world and lead us into the kingdom of God.
He is the light that will show us the way.
But far too many of us love this world that we live in—we do not see it as God sees it and His Holy Spirit inspired words in 1 John 2 says: “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”
It is time to come into the light!
Prayer: Lord God Almighty, we have not lived our lives as you would have us live them—forgive us and grant us the wisdom to know that the time for Jesus’ return is near. Help us to come out of the darkness of this world and into the light of your kingdom led by your Son, in whose name we pray, Amen.

Scripture lesson for today: 1 John 3: 11-24
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3: 16-18 NIV
All too often when we read this verse we tend to think that we must lay down our life (be killed) to satisfy these words— just as Jesus died on the cross for us.
However, the application of these words for us today is that we do not simply state that we love, but that we give up our desires, our agenda, to serve others—putting others needs in front of our plans—in that we come to know and find sincere love for one another.
James 2: 15-17 puts it in these words: “Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
Love is an action—it is not a statement—love is shown in deed; but let us remember from yesterday’s devotion that it is action of desire and not of labor.
Prayer: Great and Gracious Father, grant us the ability and desire to display our love for one another in our actions towards them just as Jesus did for us. We pray this in His name, Amen.
