First Baptist Church exists to passionately promote the glory of God’s name through the extension of Christ’s Lordship in the New Testament church throughout the world (Rom 1:1–5; Phil 2:5–11; Matt 28:19–20) via the evangelization of the lost, the edification of the saved, the establishment of vital churches, and the expansion of God’s salvific rule over the people groups of all nations (1 Cor 1:1

7; Col 1:28–29; Rom 12:4–8): “That the Word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored” (ESV 2 Thess 3:1).

Secularism Will Be Crushed

There is a future administration, a coming fullness—the fullness of the times when Christ will have come.

Now he sits on the throne, central and exalted, and one day you will see him clearly as the sum of all things.

Ephesians 1:10 looks forward to this grand and glorious time when the Father finally sends his Son to bring all things under his rule.

This subjection will not be merely positional but fully realized and practically evident in every way under Christ.

His enemies will be put under his feet, displaying the completeness of his victory.

Even death itself awaits its final end, to be thrown into the lake of fire at the conclusion of that kingdom.

This is the climactic fullness toward which all of history is moving.
In that day, Christ’s centrality and supremacy will be unmistakably revealed to all.

Snap It Together

"It is worth our time to look at the Bible as God has revealed it in the way that He has revealed it, capture the words that, like Lego, snap these things together, and help us understand them better."

Sense the Significant
From 6/7/26 sermon “For Your Ears Only” in Ephesians 1:9 by Pastor David Huffstutler

God has called me to preach, and I genuinely love doing it, but the focus must never be on me.

Whether you walk away thinking I am the greatest or the least of preachers does not ultimately matter, because different people will respond differently to any of us.

Some will appreciate you, others will not, and we all have certain friends we connect with more easily than others.

What truly matters is what God thinks of us and how He reveals His mind through His Word.

In His wisdom, God has organized the church with preachers, teachers, and fellow believers to encourage one another, so we must make much of His Word, especially now that He has spoken fully through His Son and by His Spirit.

Our services are not only about the sermon—we sing, read Scripture, and pray—but a significant portion of our time is devoted to asking, “What does God have to say?” and listening carefully.

Because God has given more light in this age than in times past, it is fitting for Christians today to be especially diligent students of Scripture.

So when someone casually chooses to skip the gathered worship of God’s people, the real question is: what could be more important than hearing God speak, worshiping Him, and admonishing one another according to the mind of Christ?

Our junior summer camp is going well. Some good challenges of valuing God over the world, listening to God's voice through His Word, watching our words, worshiping God alone, believing in Christ and being saved, and overcoming sin through God's help. More photos are posted by the Peniel Bible Camp's page.
