Central Woodward Christian Church A Disciples of Christ Congregation in Metro-Detroit We are an Open and Affirming congregation that is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

We seek to be a welcoming, thoughtful, compassionate, progressive, nurturing, community of faith. Central Woodward Christian Church has a long history of ministry in metro-Detroit, beginning in 1928 on Woodward Avenue in Detroit. We moved to the corner of Big Beaver Road and Adams in Troy, Michigan in 1978. As we look into the future we are committing ourselves to become a missional congregation,

one that continues our long term commitment to ministering in the metro-Detroit area, but most specifically to minister in and with our closest neighbors in and around Troy.

Last Sunday (April 26th) during worship we commemorated the 10th anniversary of Central Woodward Becoming an Open and Affirming congregation. Churches that make the commitment to being O+A are saying that their congregation is one in which members of the LGBTQIA+ community are not just welcomed and accepted, but are affirmed in their God-given identity and included in the life of the church just as they are.
And while this commitment started with CWCC’s decision to be open and affirming toward who identify as LGBTQIA+, that spirit of welcome and inclusion extends to any and all people, no matter who they are. Ten years on, we continue to be committed to making our community of faith a place of welcome, inclusion, and accessibility for all who enter this place.
