Troy Presbyterian Church

Troy Presbyterian Church Troy Presbyterian Church in Troy, North Carolina Our worship is solid and deep-rooted, but also expressive and personal.

Troy Presbyterian Church is here to encourage people to have meaningful, relevant faith in God as disciples of Jesus Christ. We want to make sure we both hear from God and reach out to him in ways that are both lasting and true. We're part of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (http://epc.org). We worship each Sunday at 11:00 - if you visit, you'll be warmly welcomed, but not put on the spot or e

mbarrassed. The important thing to us is that you experience the power, presence, and grace of God as we sing, pray, and reflect on the scriptures.

This Sunday, February 27, at 9:45 a.m., Troy Presbyterian Church is having a breakfast downstairs in the Fellowship Hall. 🙂 Everybody should bring something breakfasty! We'll have the coffee going! Alli is going to be cooking up some tasty breakfast foods in the kitchen, too! 🙂 It's going to be a fun time of fellowship!

Have you ever sacrificed something for someone else? Has someone ever sacrificed anything for you? What was the motive? What did you (or the other person) hope would come of it? Can sacrifice ever be insincere? How can you tell? What makes a sacrifice “worth it?” We’ll think about the puzzle and power of sacrifice this Sunday (this is also Communion Sunday). See you then.

On Hold. Waiting rooms. The check’s in the mail. Traffic delays. These are not things any of us love. We don’t like waiting around. And yet it’s important to know how to deal with these things, because impatience makes things worse. Knowing how to wait is also part of faith. We’ll see why this Sunday. See you then.

All of us learn by watching, and that’s true for faith in God, too. There are models of real and serious faith, and it probably doesn’t take long for you to come up with one or two. Sunday we’ll begin to take a look at some whose stories are in the Bible, starting with Abraham. He took a step into the Great Unknown, and that’s the essence of faith. What did that mean for him? And what does it mean for us? And what difference does it make? See you Sunday.

“It is easier to act your way into a new way of thinking, than it is to think your way into a new way of acting.” What do you think? Do our hearts change our actions, or is it the other way around? And either way, why is it so hard for actions to match intentions? What's your experience? Think it over and we'll see what the Lord has to say this Sunday.

Christmas seems like a long time ago - what gifts did you receive? It may not be that easy to remember them. That's OK - there's more to a gift than the object given. The very fact that it's a gift carries a lot of value. We'll unravel that this Sunday as we share in Communion. Join us for worship - we'd be glad to see you.

Have you ever been angry with God? Or disappointed? Perplexed? Join the club – it includes some great people of strong faith. And that’s confusing, because doesn’t faith mean we never feel this way? That we’re always on good terms with God and clear about his ways and means? Sunday we’ll look into “having issues” with God. How can we be right with him but perhaps not in a good place with him at the same time? See you then.

Friends in Stanly and Montgomery Counties – If you can give some to serve a real need this Thursday, OASIS (Older Adult Services in Stanly) needs volunteers to help with a flooring and plumbing problem in Millinport, between Albemarle and Locust. It’s not difficult work and plumbers and carpenters will be there to lead the work. But helping hands are needed. I don’t want to post photos or details on FB, but if you’re interested contact me and I’ll share more and get you in touch with the key person at OASIS.
