Seventeen seminarians from Sacred Heart Major Seminary are preparing for ordination to the priesthood this spring and summer, answering God’s call to serve His Church.

As they reflect on their years of formation, the men shared the ways God has prepared them for priestly ministry through prayer, fraternity, service, and life at Sacred Heart.
“The love and praise we all gave to Jesus in the Eucharist has always left an impression on me,” shared Deacon Brandon Elias of the Chaldean Eparchy of St. Thomas the Apostle.

Please join us in praying for these ordinandi as they prepare to lay down their lives in service to Christ and His Church.

The season of Easter is the most important of all liturgical times, which Catholics celebrate as the Lord's resurrection from the dead, culminating in his Ascension to the Father and sending of the Holy Spirit upon the Church. The octave of Easter comprises the eight days which stretch from the first to the second Sunday. It is a way of prolonging the joy of the initial day. There are 50 days of Easter from the first Sunday to Pentecost. It is characterized, above all, by the joy of glorified life and the victory over death expressed most fully in the great resounding cry of the Christian: Alleluia! All faith flows from faith in the resurrection: "If Christ has not been raised, then empty is our preaching; empty, too, is your faith." (1 Cor 15:14)

Today begins the Triduum, the summit of the liturgical year. From the evening of Holy Thursday to the evening of Easter Sunday.

Though chronologically three days, they are liturgically one day unfolding for us the unity of Christ's Paschal Mystery.

The single celebration of the Triduum marks the end of the Lenten season, and leads to the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord at the Easter Vigil.
