International Christian Centers for the Deaf (ICCD)

International Christian Centers for the Deaf (ICCD) ICCD is a non-profit Christian organization with the purpose of sharing the gospel with the Deaf in third world countries.

ICCD helps the Deaf by building communities, educating for life, and making disciples for Jesus Christ. BUILDING COMMUNITY
The Deaf are approximately 1% of the population and often go through life without knowing other Deaf in their community. At ICCD, we bring the Deaf together from numerous villages to build relationships with each other and provide support from a Christian perspective. EDUCATIN

G FOR LIFE
Most of the Deaf in developing countries have no ability to read, write, or communicate beyond simple gestures. We educate them in reading, writing, and language to help them integrate into society, secure a job, and provide for themselves and their families. BUILD DISCIPLES
Ultimately our goal is to present the gospel so that the Deaf can hear and receive the good news of Jesus Christ. We need to build community and help the deaf with basic education to be able to do this effectively. We partner with local churches to develop programs and services for the Deaf to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus. We provide missionaries or train nationals in the local church to interpret the spoken gospel.

Imagine 718 people needing rescue.
Only 14 understand the way out.

718 beds.

Every room occupied.

A major crisis hits, and every person needs to be evacuated.

The rescue plan is real.
The exits are ready.
The announcement is made.

BUT… only 2% of the hospital receives the warning in a language they can understand.

That would be only about 14 people.

something like that sounds RIDICULOUS doesn’t it!?

Some might call it medical malpractice….

Well…The other 704 patients remain in their rooms …not because they ignored the warning, not because they refused rescue, but because the message never reached them in a way they could understand.

THAT!!!! THAT is what Gospel access looks like for much of the Deaf world.

Not 2% saved.
Not 2% discipled.
Just 2% with access.

So…….What about the 98%

…the forgotten!?

Question must be asked if that’s called medical malpractice… are we treating the access to the gospel with the same level of recklessness…. Because we’re comfortable.

The Gospel is real.
Jesus saves.
The rescue is real.

BUT… if the message has never been given in a language someone can understand, then they have not truly been reached.

They are not unreachable.

They are unreached.

And…That is why ICCD exists.

Hyderabad, India has a staggering need.

There may be close to 700,000 people in the city who are profoundly Deaf or living with some form of hearing loss.

Many Deaf children there are not just facing a hearing issue.

They are facing isolation.
Limited medical care.
Limited education.
Limited language access.
And in many cases, little to no access to the Gospel in a way they can understand.

This is why ICCD is working to start Deaf schools in Hyderabad.

Because every Deaf child deserves more than silence.

They deserve language.
They deserve education.
They deserve to know they are loved by God.
They deserve to see and understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Would you pray about how you might help support these precious Deaf children?

The Great Commission includes the Deaf.

ICCD is grieved to hear of the events affecting the EastLake Community Church family and our surrounding United States based community.

In moments like this, words can feel insufficient. We simply want to pause with our community, pray for those who are hurting, and ask the Lord to bring comfort, strength, wisdom, and peace.

Our prayers are with the EastLake Church family, those directly impacted, church leadership, first responders, and all who are walking through this difficult moment.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

What if the Gospel was preached right in front of you… but never in a language you could understand?

Across Uganda, India, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Bahamas, and beyond, Deaf children and adults sit in churches, live in Christian communities, and exist near religious activity every day… yet many are still truly unreached.

Why?

Not because Jesus forgot them.
Not because they are somehow less valuable.
And not simply because they are deaf.

They remain unreached because they often have no access to the Gospel in a language they can understand.

For much of the Deaf world, that means no sign language Bible teaching, no discipleship in their heart language, no Christian education they can fully access, and no one intentionally bringing them the hope of Christ in a way they can receive.

Nearly 2% of the world’s population is Deaf. That is not a small group. That is millions of precious souls.

The Great Commission does not stop with spoken language.

The Great Commission includes the Deaf.

At ICCD, this is why we serve in multiple countries — working to reach Deaf children and adults with:

* The Gospel
* Sign language access
* Christian education
* food, shelter, and care
* discipleship and dignity

The Deaf are not unreachable.

They are WAITING to be reached.

Let’s stop assuming proximity to church means access to Christ.

Let’s make sure the Gospel is not just nearby — but understood.

Pray. Give. Go. Share.

Because every child, in every country, deserves access to the hope of Jesus in a language they can understand.

Sunday evening check-in. 👀

You went to church.
You heard the sermon.
You ate the lunch.
You took the nap.
Now you’re scrolling Facebook.

So here’s the question:

What if “living the Christian life” actually means going?

Not just talking about missions.
Not just liking posts about missions.
Not just saying, “Someone should do something.”

What if God is tugging on you?

In 2027, ICCD is looking ahead to possible mission opportunities in Brazil, Jamaica, Uganda, The Bahamas, India, Cuba, Thailand, Kosovo, and even mission work down the Amazon River.

These trips are not vacations with a ministry caption.

They are opportunities to see what God is doing among Deaf children, families, churches, and communities around the world — and to be part of making the Gospel accessible to people who are often overlooked.

Pray.
Plan.
Prepare.
Go.

If your heart just felt a little tug… do not ignore it.

Message us. Ask questions. Start praying now.

The Great Commission includes the Deaf.

🔔🔔🔔Last call for Uganda! 🇺🇬

July 7–17, 2026

ICCD is preparing to go to Uganda to serve, encourage, and help reach Deaf children and adults for Christ.

This is more than a trip.

It is a chance to see what God is doing, serve alongside the ministry on the ground, and be part of making the Gospel accessible to the Deaf.

Not everyone is called to go everywhere.

But someone may be called to Uganda.

Could it be you?

Pray about it.
Ask questions.
Share this with someone who has a heart for missions.

Comment UGANDA or message us if you want more information.

What if the Gospel was being preached all around you… but you still couldn’t understand it?

That is the reality for many Deaf children and adults.

In Brazil, the need is not only for churches to gather people.

The need is for the Gospel to be made clear in a language Deaf people can receive.

Language matters.
Education matters.
Discipleship matters.
Access matters.

A Deaf child is not less reachable.

They are often simply overlooked.

ICCD exists to help change that.

One honest question: do you think most churches are prepared to disciple Deaf children and adults?

A child can be surrounded by religion and still be unreached.

In Mexico, many children grow up surrounded by churches, traditions, prayers, candles, and religious images.

But for a Deaf child, being surrounded by religious activity does not mean the Gospel has been understood.

If no one signs…
If no one teaches in a way they can receive…
If no one explains Jesus in their language…

They can sit in the middle of it all and still leave confused.

That is why ICCD exists though our amazing Mexico organization México Centros Cristianos para Sordos.

Not to argue religion.
Not to compete.
But to help Deaf children and adults understand the Gospel clearly.

The Great Commission includes the Deaf.

When you think about missions in Mexico, do you think about the Deaf?

We would like to officially welcome Dr. James Orr to the ICCD team!

We are grateful for his heart, leadership, and commitment to the work God is doing around the world through International Christian Centers for the Deaf.

There is so much need — and so much opportunity — as we continue helping Deaf children and adults find education, safety, language, discipleship, and the hope of Christ.

Welcome to the team, Dr. Orr. We believe God is going to use this partnership to do amazing things! 🙌

Dr. James Orr has officially been named to the Board of Directors for the International Christian Centers for the Deaf, ICCD. ICCD has helped thousands of Deaf children in developing countries around the globe, but thousands more still need our help. ICCD is a non-profit with locations all across the globe that aims to help the Deaf find a safe place to grow and learn in Christ. ICCD is located in Cloverdale, Virginia.
James is the Director of Missions for the P*e Dee Baptist Association serving 31 P*eDeeba Churches and Pinehill Baptist Retreat in Dillon and Marlboro Counties.

In some places, the Gospel does not always move through big buildings or public platforms.

Sometimes it moves quietly…

Through homes.
Through relationships.
Through small gatherings.
Through people willing to go where the need is.

But even there, a Deaf child can still be left out if no one makes the message accessible.

They may be present.
They may be watching.
They may be near the conversation.

But if there is no language access, they still may not understand.

That is why ICCD exists.

We believe Deaf children and adults are not forgotten by God — even in places where ministry must be quiet, careful, and personal.
