Romans 5:8–9
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

This is grace.
The cross is where God’s justice and God’s love meet perfectly.
God’s justice demanded payment for sin.
God’s love provided that payment through His Son.
Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live.
He obeyed the Father completely.
He fulfilled every requirement of God’s law.
Then He willingly went to the cross.
There He bore the punishment of our sins.
The wrath that should have fallen upon us fell upon Him.
The judgment that belonged to us was placed upon Christ.
