"What's Your Story?"
“I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words. I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just. — Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.” Psalms 71:15-16, 18 -- What is your testimony? What can you tell others about God? What have you allowed God to do in your heart, mind and life that others would want to know about? David shared his enthusiasm about God with everyone who listened. Why? Because David had an incredible relationship with God. He trusted in God with his whole heart and saw God as a righteous God, who met his every need. In this Psalm David is an old man. Even in his last days, David proclaimed God’s power and mighty miracles to the new generation coming after him. Today more than ever people need the Savior. They need to see Christians with a vibrant relationship with a loving all powerful God. What is your story? What can you say about God’s miraculous power? What can you say about God’s faithfulness and provision? So many people never enter a church. They never read the Bible. But every day they are watching your life, listening to your conversation. They may never read the Gospel according to Matthew or Mark. The only chance they have is to see the Gospel according to YOU. Father, thank You for Your love. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me. Help me to share Your love with others. Help me to be faithful in my witness of Your power and provision in my life. I pray that Your gospel message would be alive and well in my story and than many would witness You in me and believe. By Your grace and for Your glory. AMEN

Trials Have Purpose
Trials … have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold … —may be proved genuine …1 Peter 1:6-7 — I sometimes wish that faith and trials were mutually exclusive, but the Bible proves that idea wrong . “Trials … have come so that your faith … may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor.” Trials are sometimes self-inflicted. For example, risky behavior often leads to sad consequences. Sometimes trials are imposed on us when someone wishes to hurt or abuse us. Other trials seem unavoidable. Terminal cancer, MS and cerebral palsy testify that our world is groaning under the weight of sin. When it comes to trials, the only question is when and in what way they will arrive. In response, we can choose bitterness or endurance. Bitterness makes trials more painful. The way of obedience involves endurance that surrenders to God’s eternal grace. Why? For one thing, trials point to God’s ultimate goal. The Bible compares times of trial to a birthing process (Romans 8:22 to 24) that will celebrate new life and result in deliverance from all the effects of evil. In addition, like an excellent jeweler, the Lord will bring his most treasured possessions to journey through the crucibles of fire so that he and his truth will be his children’s priority. I still do not like trials, in fact, I hate trials!. But one of the greatest miracles is that God uses them so that we can grow, live, and hope in him. Lord, you see our trials and the crises of faith they often bring. Thank you for loving us enough to help us endure the pain, mature in grace, and grow in hope through your Son. Amen.

The Invitation
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Revelation 22:17— You hear of a friend’s engagement to be married. You congratulate the couple enthusiastically. In the months ahead they tell you about their plans. Yet they never mention whether you’re invited to the wedding. You assume you’ll receive an invitation later in the mail, but nothing comes. Within a few weeks of the wedding you figure the lack of invitation is an oversight. Still, in whenever you talk with them you politely don’t mention it. But after the wedding day comes and goes without an invitation, your very hurt and you have to figure that you must have been left out. That can be a heartbreaking situation to be in. Now imagine yourself outside the Christian community. You’ve heard of the joy Christians have in their walk with God and the value of Christian community. You know a number of Christians. But none of them ever ask if you are a Christian or if you would like to be. How would that feel? In the closing words of the Bible, God extends his invitation to all. By his Holy Spirit he says, “Come!” Through the church he also says, “Come!” God uses Christians, his “bride,” the church, to invite people into his amazing grace. Christians need not worry about who will accept or decline. Our role is simply to care enough to invite. And the invitation is to not only see a wedding but to be in it as the bride, the body of believers, whom God dearly loves! Are you inviting people into the presence of the Lord?Lord, lead me to people I can invite into full life with you by the power of your love. Amen.

What a Privilege
You are a chosen people … that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness …1 Peter 2:9 — I once had the privilege of eating lunch with the Anglican Bishop of Uganda. I enjoyed the honor of the event and the conversation we shared, and I even participated in a photo session before it all ended. But, as memorable as that was, it pales in comparison to an even greater privilege. I am in awe of knowing that I have the privilege ,of God, the creator of all, presence with me forever through Jesus Christ—“God with us.” I am privileged to daily converse with him and to serve as his representative. That is the essence of holiness—a life “set apart” for Christ! Holiness is God’s gift of grace to us. He declares that we are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession.” Holiness is also our gift of gratitude to God. Overwhelmed by God’s generosity, I joyfully receive it and gratefully boast in the One who gave it. I find it sad that many people think of holiness as a list of suffocating rules or as an unsatisfying way to earn God’s acceptance. Some quit. Others judge. Many are confused. All miss the grace that says “we are God’s handiwork” Ephesians 2:10. They miss the gratitude that delights in knowing that even the tiniest growth is an impressive testimony to the Holy One .Holiness earns nothing, but it sure says a lot about God’s gracious character! Lord, thank you for the gift of holiness. From this day forward I will gratefully declare your gracious name. May my life be a testimony to your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.

Life Seem Unfair?
Give them a message for their masters and say, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Tell this to your masters: With my great power and outstretched arm I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please. Jeremiah 27:4-5 - I have come to realize and understand that everything in this world belongs to God, He has ownership and He controls it. There were times when I would get to feeling life is so unfair,(I’d be lying if I said I don’t still on occasion), Bad people and criminals seem to prosper, some lazy folks seem to get the promotion, etc. etc. etc.… we know the concerns cause we all have these feelings. Mostly of what we feel shorted on are worldly possessions that rot and fade away, furthermore as God stated in our verse “I made the earth and its people and the animals that are on it, and I give it to anyone I please.” But you know what, God has bless us with something so much more that is priceless and lasts forever, something we can’t buy or earn, the gift of salvation and His unconditional love. You want to talk about unfair, we do not deserve this gift because of our sinful nature. God gave us His most precious possession, His Son Jesus to die for my sins. God is in control of all, and that's fine with me. Lord, thank You for Your abundant love and mercy on us, a sinful people, help us to be content with those things that are eternal and glorifying to You. Amen

Coming Home
“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.” Revelation 2:5 ->Most of us know and love the Bible story of the prodigal son since we have all been in need of forgiveness, it is truly everyone's story. Jesus isn't specific about where the younger son squandered his inheritance or about how long it actually took him to come to his senses. I think God wants us to add to the story from our own lives and experiences, providing details of how much we are tempted by the material things of this world, the times we have been apart from God, and God's steadfast love for each of us. I can say from mv life experience that ANY distance away from God's love is too far. Any time spent out of fellowship with God is too long. But no distance is too far nor time too long for God to find us. Like the patient father watching down the road for his son's return, God sees us beyond distances of time and space and never gives up hope. Christ embodies the far-reaching love that calls us to our senses wherever we are and turns our hearts to repentance so we can accept the true inheritance that awaits us in our Father's arms. Even before we turn toward home, God waits with open arms. Father, may we be part of your plan by offering Biblical words of encouragement, faith, and UNCONDITIONAL love to each other. Amen.

"Always Faithful"
If we are faithful He remains faithful" 2Timothy 2:13...We often hear the following from people, or maybe we thought it or you are feeling this way now: "I'm not good enough for God to love me." "I've failed God one too many times and God won't forgive me again." "I'm being punished by God for my sin." "My life is so far off what God wants, that God has finally given up on me". When things are not going well, when we know the depth of our sin and our failures we can often become fearful that our choices are going to be the cause of the removal of God's loving presence in our lives. I believe we become fearful and lose hope, because our experience has been that in human relationships if we sin too many times, then those relationships become broken, often with the person or persons severing the relationship.Scripture proclaims that God's ways are not our ways, and that God's ways are ways of absolute faithfulness. Scripture calls us not to base understanding of God on our experience in human relationships but on the living word of God proclaimed in Scripture. Truly, when we are faithless, God remains faithful. Remember, God did not wait until God's people were faithful before God sent Jesus to save us. If God had waited until we were faithful, we would still be waiting for Jesus! Lord Jesus, we fail You so often and have not been faithful to You. Please forgive us for the times we fail and help us become more faithful. Amen.

Gods Love Provides Grace
“If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:3->I love computers, techy toys, and learning new ways of doing things with the incredible resources this century affords. I think the reason I enjoy technology so much is that it's easy to fix! Well, maybe not easy for me, but there are usually reasons why things break down. We can trace the problem back and replace a broken part, adjust a connection, or reset a computer. Being a pastor, and trying grace that heals, grace that pardons, grace that saves. I thank God for grace that intervenes and grace that provides hope in even the most difficult situations. Thank God for the grace that comes through the listening ear of a friend or the caring heart of a mentor. Thank God for grace that flows into all the nooks and crannies of our lives. We are God's assistants in the work of healing. Gracious God, thank you for your work of mending broken hearts, strengthening broken lives, and healing broken relationships. Use us today to assist you. Amen

"Voices"
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 It is so easy to let our thoughts run away from us. You know, the inward chatter that goes on all day. The voice when you get up in the morning, the musing on the drive to work, the stewing over events on the way home. Inner thoughts are powerful. They create emotions which in turn cause actions. Paul is saying that we have to take ownership of our inner dialog. It is so easy to be negative, anxious, angry, doubtful, bitter or carnal in our thinking. Instead, we need to be responsible for what we think and deliberately focus on true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praise worthy thoughts. What a difference this discipline would bring to our life. Father, I give you my thought life. I want you to be Lord of both my conscious and unconscious part of my being. You know my thought process. You know my habitual thinking patterns. I bring them to you. I ask that you help me today, begin a habit of focusing on true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praise worthy thoughts. Amen

"Don't Get Even, Bless Them with Love"
“Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.”I Peter 3:8-9 -- Isn’t funny how we can spend so much time trying to figure out the “will of God” is for our life when so much of it is right in front of us? Peter wrote to the church, “Here is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it!” And what is it that God wants us to do? Well, have you heard the saying " don't get mad get even "? He even says not to get even! He wants His church to be of one mind. He wants us to sympathize with each other and to love each other as brothers and sisters. If we are to do His will we must be tenderhearted toward others and be humble. We cannot repay evil for evil and feel we are following Him. Neither can we retaliate with insults when people insult us. If we are going to do His will we need to pay those that hurt us back with a blessing. Simply said, if we are going to live out the will of God we must love. We must love! John wrote it this way, “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” Today ask God to help you live out His will for your life. Ask Him to help you love others. Father, thank You for showing me Your will for my life. Help me to love others, really love them the way You do. Help me behave toward others the way You would have me to. Empower me Lord through Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen

In Times of Trouble
Jehoshaphat said to God, "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." -2 Chronicles 20:12--The kingdom of Judah was in trouble. A vast army of Moabites and Ammonites had assembled and was marching on Jerusalem. Defeat seemed certain, but the able King Jehoshaphat turned to God to plead his case. His prayer revealed deep faith and dependence on God alone. Jehoshaphat did not know what to do, but he never took his eyes off the one omniscient and omnipotent God of us all. We all encounter trials and dilemmas in our lives - an unexpected financial crisis or physical ailment, an urgent plea from a friend, overwhelming demands at work, or even confusion or inexplicable anxiety within ourselves. Yet through it all, when we may not know what to do next, God does. God may not destroy what threatens us, as Judah's enemies were destroyed, but God will be with us. In every hour, even when things seem most desperate, God is always with us. God is always with us - even when we do not know what to do. Our Lord and Savior, guard us in the trials that come our way. Strengthen and guide us in what we must say and do, and may our eyes always be upon you. Amen.

"Past Weighing You Down?"
"As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” Psalm 103:12. I love to hear the testimonies of people who were raised with a strong relationship with Jesus. Unfortunately not all of us have that experience. My past was a slippery slope of sin and pride. Thanks to the cleansing blood of my Savior Jesus, I have been forgiven, saved and my sin cast away. But at times the enemy can whisper a reminder in my ear, and the past can act like a chain around my neck that weighs down my soul. If we dwell too long on thoughts of our past, we can feel like a failure. Feeling trapped and stuck in negative circumstances, we can doubt we’ll ever escape and assume nothing ever will change. But the Bible tells us that God can provide us with complete freedom. The forgiveness He offers is so amazing that our sins are removed “as far as the east is from the west.” You might ask,"How can I be forgiven too? By confessing your sins and accepting the gift of His grace. Then we must declare His Word and put it into practice in our lives and dwell with Jesus. We must become confident that we’ve become “a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” 2 Corinthians 5:17. To live in victory, we need to believe and accept God’s finished work, then allow the Holy Spirit lead us in how we act and what we say. We must not delay or put off this decision, for “the ‘right time’ is now. Today is the day of salvation” 2 Corinthians 6:2. In your life, don’t be haunted by your past or spend time fretting over missed opportunities. Accept God’s forgiveness for your sins, and don’t allow the devil to have any foothold in your mind. Seek to obey God’s Word. Ask Him to help you live boldly…expectantly…confidently. You are forgiven and cleansed. Today is a new day to celebrate your freedom and move forward as a new creation in Christ. Father, thank You for Your forgiveness. Help me to be clean in Your sight. Help me to walk in victory! I commit my life to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
