Effecting Unity and Community among all people As a Catholic Community of Women founded by St.

Katharine Drexel in 1891, we are dedicated to the in*******al apostolate in the USA. Today we serve in elementary and secondary schools as well as at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. We are also involved in pastoral and spiritual ministries, social services, counseling, religious education and health care primarily but not exclusively among Black and Native American Peoples.

For 135 years, the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament have carried forward the vision of St. Katharine Drexel—bringing Christ's love through education, service, advocacy, and prayer.

Today, while many of our Sisters have entered retirement, their vocation continues. They remain faithful witnesses to the Gospel, mentoring others, volunteering where they are able, advocating for justice, and lifting the intentions of others before the Blessed Sacrament each day.

As our community ages, the need to care for the Sisters who have devoted their lives to serving God's people continues to grow.

On July 3, 2026, our beloved Sister Lorraine Marie Stein, SBS joined our Heavenly Father. Her motto was “Fiat, all for Jesus through Mary with joy.”
