Monastic professions and jubilees at Hanga Abbey 2010.
July 11th of every year the Benedictines throughout the world celebrate the passing of their monastic founder St. Benedict of Nursia. At Hanga Abbey this a day when new members are admitted to the community after finishing their novitiate years and some celebrate their anniversaries. This year we have a blessing of two of them making their first monastic vows: Frater Fraternus Mhwajuki, OSB, and Frater Bonifasi Sanga, OSB.
At the same time Fr. Mugaga Angelo Msele, OSB and Fr. Francis de Sales Shawa, OSB celebrated their 25th year of monastic life while Frater Anselm Wella, OSB cebrated his 50th anniversary. Also our bishop emeritus of Bukoba, Placidus Gervas Nkalanga, OSB, celebrated his 7th anniversary of priesthood.
Congratulations to our new members and the jubilarians. It is well and pleasing for brothers to live together in unity in God’s house. Int the photo from left are Frater Fraternus Mhwajuki, OSB, Bishop Placidus Nkalanga, OSB, Archbishop Nortbert Mtega (of Songera archdiocese), Abbot Thadei Mhagama, OSB, (abbot of Hanga Abbey), and Frater Bonifas Sanga, OSB.
