Each year on December 21, the first day of winter, people across the United States gather as a part of Homeless Persons' Remembrance Day to memorialize those who have passed away during the year while experiencing homelessness.

This year, a handful of the TASK team -- including TASK CEO Joyce Campbell, Chief Program & Innovation Officer Frank Masters, Senior Director of Radical Hospitality Jaime Parker, Board Chair Pam Kelly and Board Member Pastor Rupert Hall -- gathered with leaders across Trenton at the invitation of the Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness to honor those we lost.

"The memorial service was hosted by Turning Point United Methodist Church - Trenton, NJ, where TASK served its first meal in 1982," said Campbell. "It's hard not to draw parallels between then and now, when hunger and poverty are surging across our area and across the nation once again. As the Alliance reminds us, we must remember that those who are unsheltered are more than their condition, and TASK is proud to be a part of a community that believes that everyone is deserving of respect and compassion."
