Most people never think twice about taking a shower or washing their clothes.
For someone living on the streets, those simple things can be life-changing.
After retiring, Clarenton "Nicky" Crawford decided to do something about it. In 2022, he founded Flowing with Blessings after seeing how many people experiencing homelessness lacked access to basic hygiene.
The nonprofit first launched mobile shower units. Later, with help from Georgia Tech industrial design students, Crawford transformed an old school bus into a fully equipped Mobile Laundry Bus complete with washers and dryers.
Today, the organization travels across metro Atlanta providing free showers, clean clothing, laundry services, and hygiene supplies to people who need them most.
Clean clothes won't solve homelessness on their own. But they can restore something that's often lost first: dignity. They can also improve health, boost confidence, and even help someone feel prepared for a job interview or a fresh start.
Sometimes, the first step toward rebuilding a life begins with feeling clean.
