What a lovely truth to wake up to day by day:

“Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise You.” —Psalm 63:3

His lovingkindness is His steadfast love and tender mercy—and His mercies are new every morning. To live in His mercy today, through Jesus Christ, is to live in His mercy forever!

Spurgeon beautifully described this truth:

“To dwell with God is better than life at its best; life at ease, in a palace, in health, in honour, in wealth, in pleasure; yea, a thousand lives are not equal to the eternal life which abides in Jehovah’s smile.”

Life at its very best cannot compare to knowing God and living beneath His smile. His lovingkindness is not merely one of the blessings of life—it is better than life itself.

Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more
Our sins they are many, His mercy is mоre🎼

What a satisfying proclamation from David in Psalm 63:1:

“O God, You are my God…”

David was in the wilderness—a dry and weary land. He lived in a time when nations had their own gods and people were often confused about whom they served. Yet David begins with the foundational truth that makes everything else a bold reality:

Elohim is my El—God is my God.

There is no confusion, no hesitation, and no splitting hairs. David declares, “The LORD is the God I serve, the God I seek, and the God to whom I belong.”

Today, we can rest in the promise recorded in Hebrews 8:10:

“I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”

There is no greater satisfaction than knowing that, through Jesus Christ, we belong to God—and He is our God.

O God, You are my God!

Many times, it is in silence that we find our greatest solace.

Now, I love a good devotional time, a powerful church service, or even a blessed time of worship within the confines of my truck. But some of our most memorable moments with God are spent in silence.

David knew all about this. With so many people plotting against him, he had to hold his tongue and remain composed. He could not allow careless words to escape his mouth—but in the deepest recesses of his soul, he was anything but quiet.

In Psalm 62, David describes those who were determined to bring him down. Then, in verses 5–8, he pauses for a silent praise break. His heart begins preaching to his mind:

God alone is my hope.
God alone is my rock.
God alone is my salvation.
God is my glory, my strength, my rest, and my refuge.

David reminds us that even when we are silent, God is still working on our behalf. We may not have the words to say, the strength to explain, or the freedom to respond—but our souls can still wait quietly and confidently before Him.

And ultimately, our minds are drawn to Jesus. Isaiah prophesied that “as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He did not open His mouth.” Christ remained silent as He was falsely accused, mocked, and led away to be crucified. He did not defend Himself because He had come to give Himself.

But His silence was not weakness—it was submission to the will of the Father. He silently endured the cross so that the mighty power of God might be manifested through His glorious resurrection!

The enemy may have mistaken His silence for defeat, but three days later, the empty tomb spoke louder than words ever could.

Today, in our silence, may we wait for God alone. Our hope is from Him—and because Christ is risen, we know that silence is never the end of the story!

Oh, the blessed thought that in the middle of all of life’s situations, there is a constant reminder of our greatest hope, peace, and joy. A hope not bound to our circumstances or plans, but secured by His wonderful love for us.

I cannot help but think back to the words that we must sing—not always outwardly, because sometimes we can’t, and some people probably shouldn’t! But within our hearts, there is a melody. Through all of life’s ebb and flow, Jesus does indeed whisper sweet and low:

“Fear not, I am with thee; peace, be still.”

The storms may rage, circumstances may change, and our plans may fail, but the wonderful love of God remains. It is the love of God revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ, that makes me sing:

🎶 Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With His blood He purchased me;
On the cross He sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt, and made me free.🎶

What a blessed hope! What a perfect peace! What an unspeakable joy! And what a wonderful reason to sing!

This is a verse I often rely upon. Not just in times of need but is a great reminder of where my hope & joy lies.

I can hear our choir singing this chorus so clearly this morning:

🎼I go to the Rock, I go to the blessed Rock of Ages
I go to the Rock, I go to the Rock of Ages for my every need
When I'm discouraged, when I am sad, I go to the Rock, He makes me glad
I go to the Rock of Ages for my every need🎼

As I have journeyed through Psalms 54–59, one theme has dominated David’s writings: enemies.

Because David had been elevated to the place God appointed for him, it is no wonder the enemy used so many people and circumstances to pursue him. Yet David never lost sight of the source of his confidence—God, His Word, and His work.

Peter warns us that we also have a great enemy: Satan, who prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. He will use people, places, and circumstances to discourage, distract, and destroy.

But we have a stronghold—Jesus Christ!

God has met us with mercy. From the cross comes the cry, “It is finished!” From the empty grave comes the declaration, “He is risen!” Because of Christ, we do not merely look at our enemy—we look beyond him with victory!

Our foes may seem many today, but they are minuscule in the light of God’s glory and grace.

“Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone? And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.”

Let us pray together, bearing the burden of the people affected by this catastrophic event.

Right now, families in Nepal are waiting for answers.

A devastating flash flood swept through communities along Nepal’s border with Tibet today, destroying homes, roads and other infrastructure. Dozens of fatalities have been reported, and hundreds remain missing as search and rescue efforts continue.

Please pray:
🙏 For families grieving the loss of loved ones
🙏 For those still waiting and searching for family members
🙏 For rescue workers working through dangerous conditions
🙏 For those who have lost homes, livelihoods and everything they own
🙏 For churches and believers in Nepal to have opportunities to serve, bring comfort and share the hope of Jesus

Pray for Nepal today. 🇳🇵❤️
