This was an incredible weekend! The Men's Retreat was canceled due to road closures and power outages. But, by God's grace we rearranged our plans and "walked by faith." We gathered in our building during the day Friday and Saturday... with prayer, worship, and impromptu devotional teachings. Everything was so led of the Spirit and we were filled to overflowing with the work of God. We spent our evenings at CCFremont, who had organized an abridged version of the Retreat into two evening services. We were so blessed by the weekend. It was better than it would have been in the mountains... it was a walk by faith towards a huge blessing.

There has been a sustained outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the campus of Asbury University for over a couple of weeks now. There has been discussion over how to accurately describe what’s happening.

Some call it a revival. And why not?
The Latin root means ‘to live again.’ When things that were alive die and come alive again – that’s revival!

Some call it a renewal. And why not?
When things that are new grow old and are made new again by the Spirit – that’s renewal!

Some call it a refreshing. And why not?
When things that are fresh grow stale and are made fresh again – that’s refreshing!

Dreams can die. Ministry can grow old. Love can grow stale.
The whole church needs reviving, renewing, and refreshing.

From where I sit, what’s happening at Asbury University can also be seen as a recalibration. To calibrate is to fine tune an instrument so that it can measure accurately. I’ve seen Christians who once measured all things by the Word of God become dull and begin to measure what is true by their preferences or by whatever the current cultural standard is. I’ve known Christians, once led by the Holy Spirit, default to their momentary passions and desires. When there is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the minds and souls of believers are recalibrated and the Word and the Spirit of God come back into their rightful place.

So what’s happening at Asbury University? A recalibration! I know, that sounds really lame and will never catch on. But in the privacy of my own thoughts, I’m going to call it a recalinewval. That about sums it up.
A young woman who was there when the outpouring was first manifested gives this testimony: I would describe it as a moment of healing, unity and restoration. This revival has allowed us students to actually feel like we’re seen and we’re not dealing with our struggles by ourselves. We are actually more connected than we are different. The revival has allowed for the Holy Spirit to move in this community and reignited the flames of our love for Christ.
