This passage always speaks to my spirit. That Before God created this complicated world that we live in He chose me. Not only did he choose me but this passage says that he did it before I was even a thought in my mother’s mind.. He called me to himself and predestined my path to get me there and orchestrated the process that allows me to find my way back to him as the prodigal child that my mother birthed.. Man I’m not sure if we are all so inclined as to see the irony in this situation.
But when I read this book entitled Ephesians what I always see is Gods Providence. Now this word Providence primarily refers to divine guidance or care, representing the idea that God or a higher power is actively directing the universe and human affairs. It can also mean foresight or the prudent management of resources. But in this book I always see that God is actively pointing us to the things that will lead us and guide us as well as direct our steps to a life that is pleasing to him.. And right here in this passage we are given this information that God wants us to live a life for HIS pleasure..
So I’m always amazed that we sit in church and the pastor is so quick to point us to one another and tell us how important it is to love and help each other. When clearly this Bible points us to Jesus.. Because that’s the only way for us to be in fellowship with God, and in turn is what allows us to Love one another..
I believe that if we read this with the conviction that it should give us, We see the writer our Blood brother Paul giving us clear instructions that begin in Christ. Because while we were still lost and sinful people The Father,Son and Holy Spirit was working out our issues to make sure we had a way back to the original intention of Gods creation of Man..
My point is that we are all so quick to give credit to someone or something or even some sermon that gave us our salvation.. But I’m so glad that I didn’t need to depend on someone to show me the way.. That I was born to a woman who even in her own dysfunctional existence. She understood the importance of pointing me to Jesus and giving me a foundation of faith to stand on for my entire life.. God made the world for FAMILY!! That we would continue to point one another to Jesus and that power that would be created from that discipline would be seen by other families that don’t know Jesus and Christ would be revealed to them through the life of other families that were on the right path..
I think so often we are pulled away from our family because we point our children to the outside world for their education as well as their edification.. Which in turn opens the door to wrong relationship and wrong doctrine and ultimately leads to the wide path that eventually leads to Death. Jesus was clear in this passage. That He has already set us up for success before we were born. Given us the proper things that will allow us all to be led back to the Father by whatever means he’s given.. And I know that some of you would say, what about my circumstances, what about my situation. You don’t understand what I’ve been through.. But I understand that Moses was raised in the very home of the man who wanted him dead.. And that Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers and Jesus was born in a manger with no crib for a bed.. From negative circumstances God showed himself faithful.. There is so many examples of this in scripture that what was meant for evil, God turned it into something good..
I believe that this passage speaks to this encouragement, That while we were yet sinners Jesus died for our sins and for our salvation. Can you receive that this morning? I know that I can.. Thank you Jesus for making me your choice. That while I was chasing a life of self fulfillment you saw me and rescued me from myself..
