After the 10 AM service today, parishioners young and old gathered for a fun “Make Your Own Sundae” celebration! The homemade fudge sauce made by Kate Knott was absolutely delicious, and everyone enjoyed this sweet time of fellowship together. Many thanks to our Hospitality Committee for organizing another wonderful and popular spring event!

Today, our parishioners were joined by our neighbors from GRAF and the Ruxton–Riderwood–Lake Roland Improvement Association for a wonderful afternoon of sprucing up our church—inside and out!

Mulch was spread, garden beds were refreshed and readied for spring, and indoors, pews were polished and the kitchen given a thorough cleaning. So much was accomplished, all thanks to many willing hands.

More than anything, it was a joyful time of camaraderie—getting to know one another better while caring for our shared space. We’re so grateful for the spirit of community that made the day so special!

Thanks to Donna for the photos.

What a joyful and beautiful Easter morning at Good Shepherd! 🌸✨
Our service was filled with so many beloved traditions—the glorious music, the bright and uplifting sound of the trumpet, and a sanctuary overflowing with stunning flowers, all celebrating the hope and promise of Easter.

And of course, one of the highlights of the day was our annual Easter egg hunt after the 10 AM service. While the rain moved the festivities indoors to the Parish Hall, it certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! The excitement and laughter of the children as they eagerly searched for eggs filled the room with pure joy.

To top it all off, a very special guest made an appearance—the Easter Bunny! Young and old alike delighted in snapping photos and sharing smiles, making the morning even more memorable.
Grateful for such a wonderful church family and a day full of faith, joy, and togetherness. Alleluia!

Last night at The Church of the Good Shepherd, we gathered to observe Maundy Thursday, one of the most meaningful moments of Holy Week.

Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, when Jesus shared a final meal with his disciples and gave the commandment to “love one another as I have loved you.” It is a night that calls us to humility, service, and deep reflection.

In that spirit, we came together as a church family and friends to share a simple meal of soup and salad. Though the meal is modest, the experience is rich—with fellowship, conversation, and a quiet sense of connection that mirrors that first holy meal so long ago.

Even in its simplicity, the evening was filled with meaning, reminding us that the most sacred moments are often the simplest ones we share together. Photos thanks to Donna Reid.

Sunday evening, we gathered for our third Cottage Supper, where about a dozen parishioners came together in a member’s home to share a meal and fellowship. Since it was Palm Sunday, the table was beautifully and thoughtfully set with palms—such a meaningful touch for the occasion.

Everyone contributed something to the meal, and Sarah prepared a delicious chicken cacciatore with vegetables that was truly enjoyed by all. The evening was filled with lively conversation, laughter, and the joy of getting to know one another better.

A heartfelt thank you to Sarah and Ken for graciously hosting. It was a wonderful evening, and a fun time was had by all!

Last Saturday, Good Shepherd launched a new Outreach Ministry with our very first Red Cross Blood Drive—and what a beautiful success it was! ❤️

Thanks to the vision and organization of Ellen Ostendorf, and the incredible support of both our church family and the wider community, we exceeded our goal by 2 units of blood!

Here’s what we accomplished together:
• 10 amazing day-of volunteers
• 35 scheduled donor appointments
• 3 walk-ins
• 11 first-time donors
• 3 Power Red donations
• 21 whole blood donations

This life-giving ministry is already making a difference. Kate, who works in cardiac surgery at St. Joe’s, shared in church that just this past week a surgery had to be postponed due to a lack of blood—reminding us all that the need is real and urgent.

We are so grateful to everyone who volunteered, donated, and supported this effort. The Red Cross was thrilled with our drive and is excited to partner with us again!

We look forward to continuing this important outreach and hosting another drive later this year. Thank you to Donna for the photos!

This morning we began our Palm Sunday service gathered outside on the plaza, continuing a cherished tradition. With palms in hand, we processed into the church singing together—a beautiful and meaningful way to enter into this holy week.

The service was lovely, filled with inspiring music and a wonderful sermon. Afterward, during coffee hour, we had the joy of celebrating Robert Woodard’s birthday. His warm smile each Sunday truly brightens our days. Happy Birthday, Robert! 🌿

Tonight, the Good Shepherd community gathered for a joyful evening of fellowship and fun at our Mardi Gras Pancake Supper!
Day School families and parishioners filled the room with laughter, lively conversation, and plenty of pancakes as we celebrated together before the season of Lent begins. From happy kids enjoying the festivities to wonderful conversations shared around the tables, it was a beautiful reminder of the blessing of community.

Thank you to everyone who came, cooked, served, and celebrated., especially Dorsey for organizing the event! Now we turn our hearts toward Lent—grateful, connected, and well-fed!
