University Church (UC) is a passionate community of students, faculty and administrators dedicated to worshiping Christ and spreading His Word on Colgate's campus and in the greater Hamilton area. UC encourages individuals who have actively participated in Church growing up, those who are questioning a belief in God, and those who simply want to learn about Christianity to join and participate in
any and all of our events! Here is a list of weekly events:
6:30 pm - Sunday Worship Services (with Communion) and Dinner
12:15 pm - Wednesday Bible Studies and Lunch
6:00 pm - Thursday Interfaith Dinner
Varying - Prayer Meeting
In addition to weekly programming, we also host and participate in a number of UC and wider Colgate events:
Reformation Day (Fall Semester)
Lessons and Carols (Fall Semester)
Mardi Gras Dinner and Dance (Spring Semester)
Gospel Fest (Spring Semester)
Retreats (Varying)
Community Service is an important component of living our faith in Upstate NY! We seek to make a difference in our community by reaching out to under-served groups like Hamilton Manor, an assisted senior living community. We also host at least one event per semester with underprivelaged kids in Madison County through the CAP (Community Action Plan) program. We support Colgate Christian Fellowship-- which has ties to InterVarsity-- and Athletes for Christ, the evangelical and athletic Christian communities on campus, and we encourage cross-organization attendance at events. UC additionally sponsors two music groups to foster praise through worship: UC Worship Band and Sojourners Gospel Choir. Colgate is fortunate to have a thriving and dynamic Interfaith community on campus! We are privileged to actively engage with members of all faith groups on campus, including Newman Community, the Secular Association of Skeptical Students (SASS), the Hindu Student Association, the Muslim Student Association, the Colgate Buddhist Union, and the Colgate Jewish Union. The members of the Interfaith House, an interest living community for juniors and seniors, also open their doors and welcome UC to join in dialogue and community service events.
