By the grace of God, yesterday we had the blessing of being present at St. John the Theologian Orthodox Church in Jackson, Missouri for the Divine Liturgy, the ordination of a new Deacon, and the elevation of Fr. Daniel to the rank of Protopresbyter.

It was a great joy to celebrate the Divine Liturgy together with brother clergy and to share in this beautiful and blessed moment in the life of the Church.

To Fr. Daniel, we offer our heartfelt congratulations and prayers. May God grant him strength, wisdom, and many blessed years of faithful ministry in His vineyard.

Day 5 of Vacation Church School!

We wrapped up an incredible week with our VCS Family Showcase, where the children joyfully shared songs, dances, Scripture memory, and skits depicting the lives of the saints they studied throughout the week.

Together, we learned that the Church is a hospital for the soul, where Christ heals us through His grace, and that we are all called to be His healing helpers in the world.

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and families for making this week such a blessing. Your love, support, and dedication made it all possible. We are already looking forward to Vacation Church School next summer!

Day 4 of Vacation Church School!

Today we learned that Christ continues to bring healing to both body and soul through the Holy Mysteries, with a special focus on the Sacrament of Holy Unction. We also learned about Saints Zenaida and Philonella, sisters who faithfully served as the first holy unmercenary physicians in the first century near modern-day Volos, Greece—the hometown of Fr. Panagiotis!

The children had a blast with messy sensory play and created their own sensory jars, while our middle school students took their play rehearsals to the big stage as they prepare for tomorrow's VCS Family Showcase.

We're excited to celebrate an amazing week of learning, faith, and fun with our families tomorrow!

Day 3 of Vacation Church School

Today was a special day as our students participated in a Teaching Divine Liturgy, sitting on the solea for a front-row view as they learned about the beauty and meaning of our worship. The children joyfully took part by chanting, reading, and serving in the altar, making the experience even more meaningful.

Afterward, everyone gathered in the fellowship hall for fun relay games that brought all of our students together. Our middle schoolers also continued preparing their play on the life and ministry of St. Basil the Great.

What a blessing to learn, worship, and grow together as we continue discovering that the Church is truly a Hospital for the Soul!

Day 2 of Vacation Church School

focused on prayer as our daily medicine - strengthening our relationship with God and bringing healing to our souls.

Our students continued working on our memory verse, Matthew 9:12–13, and learned about the life of St. Porphyrios. Inspired by his wisdom, we talked about "watering" the good things in our hearts- love, prayer, kindness, and gratitude -while letting the "weeds" of sin and temptation wither away.
May we all continue to grow closer to Christ, the True Physician of our souls and bodies!

Day 1 of Vacation Church School 2026

We were blessed to welcome 70 children today as we began our journey through this year's theme: "The Church: A Hospital for the Soul."
Today we learned that Jesus Christ is the True Physician, the One who heals not only our bodies but our hearts and souls. We also explored the life of St. Luke the Surgeon—a physician, bishop, and saint who dedicated his life to healing others through faith and medicine. A truly special highlight was the opportunity to venerate a relic of St. Luke, reminding us all that the saints are always praying for us.
Can’t wait to see everyone back for Day 2!
