Edward Dale Dodge, 81, of Towanda, PA passed away Thursday evening, December 12, 2024, at the Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Burlington Township, PA. Edward was born in Sayre, PA April 1, 1943, the son of Raymond Edward Dodge and Bernice Elizabeth Potter Dodge.
Ed grew up in Burlington, PA and in early years served with the U.S. Army. Ed worked with general contractor Robert Hettich in Towanda for a number of years and was later employed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda for 36 years until retirement. Ed obtained his license as a general contractor and worked in the area for many years. Ed enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, working in the garden with his wife Cora, the outdoors, and loved hunting and fishing.
He was a dedicated member of the Assembly of God Church in Towanda where he served as a board member, men’s fellowship leader, taught Sunday school, and played on the church softball team. Ed was a member of the Bridge Street Hill Rod & Gun Club. Ed’s family includes his wife. Cora Vincent Dodge, children, Edward Dale Dodge Jr. and wife Tina of Waymart, PA, Stacy Robinson and husband Scott of Standing Stone, Melanie Palfreyman and husband Jeremy of Wyalusing, grandchildren, Bristin Robinson (Destiny Bidlack), Jedidiah (Adreanna) Palfreyman, Hannah (Adam) McClintic, Jacob, Gabrielle, Josiah, and Joshua Palfreyman, great grandchildren, Adalyn, Harlow, and Zariah, his siblings, Karen Schill of Burlington, Phyllis Jennings and husband Herbert of Texas, Connie Miller, of Towanda, Donald Dodge and wife Dorothy of Burlington, Bryan Dodge and wife Cathy of Franklindale, Kala Swain and husband Keith of Wyalusing, Raymond Dodge and wife Christina of Sheshequin Township, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday December 23, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church, Towanda, PA with Pastor Jared Newhart officiating. Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, PA with full military honors accorded by members of Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 and Beirne-Webster VFW Post No. 1568, Towanda.
