This Sunday, come early (or stay late!) for our 10:05am Fellowship Coffee Hour — because worship is sweeter when shared over a warm mug and good conversation.

Coming to the table of the Lord means showing up just as you are—hands empty, heart open, and all your burdens gently set aside. You don’t have to hold it together here; instead, you’re invited to leave the weight of the world behind and simply receive. In that sacred space, He meets you with tenderness, ready to heal what’s broken, strengthen what’s weary, and breathe fresh life into your soul. Jon us this Sunday as we gather together to celebrate Holy Communion together.

It is a beautiful and selfless act to lift someone else up. When circumstances are completely out of our control, prayer can offer comfort, peace, and a sense of shared community.

Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚲

But before you hop on your bike, here’s a spin you might not expect: In biblical tradition, the “wheels” in Ezekiel’s vision aren’t about transportation—they’re packed with divine meaning. Biblical scholars and theologians see them as profound symbolism, not mechanics:

🌀 Omnipresence – Wheels that move in every direction at once? That’s a picture of a God who isn’t limited by space.
👁️ Omniscience – Rims covered in eyes? A reminder that nothing escapes God’s all-knowing view.
✨ Omnipotence & Majesty – A dazzling, beryl-like sparkle? That’s glory and absolute sovereignty over creation.

So today, ride your bike in creation’s beauty—but maybe see it as a whisper of something even greater: a God who sees all, goes everywhere, and reigns in dazzling majesty.

“We are called to worship God, not to entertain ourselves.” – R.C. Sproul

In a world that constantly asks, “Did I enjoy that service?” or “What did I get out of it?” … this gentle reminder from R.C. Sproul refocuses our hearts. 💭

Worship isn’t a performance. It’s not about our preferences, our comfort, or our personal satisfaction. Instead, it’s a holy gift—an opportunity to turn our eyes upward and offer our full attention to the One who is worthy of all praise.

When we gather, we’re not consumers looking to be entertained. We’re a family coming home to meet with our Creator—seeking His presence, not our preferences.

That takes courage. It takes humility. And it leads to something far deeper than a fleeting emotion: true, soul-stirring worship.

At First Congregational Church, we strive to keep that focus alive—welcoming all who long to worship God, not just “have an experience.”

Come as you are. Let’s worship the One who truly matters.
