We are your parish Safeguard the Children Committee:
Abner Espanola, David Curnutte, Cheryl Hebestreit, Russell Miyahira, Jeannie Nestojko, Joseph Nguyen, Emily Smiley
• We meet two to three times a year
• We oversee and support efforts mandated by the U.S. Bishops to protect children, teens, and vulnerable adults from sexual abuse. These efforts include fingerprinting, Virtus classes, and background checks for staff and volunteers; abuse awareness classes for children; trained Virtus facilitators; an annual Audit
• We work to raise awareness about all types of abuse of children, teens, and vulnerable adults
• We conduct biannual Safety Walks to inspect the parish grounds for safety issues, and make recommendations to the plant manager
• We work year round to raise awareness about child abuse issues, with special emphasis during Child Abuse Prevention month in April
• We investigate and recommend solutions regarding the possibility of violent situations during child and youth class times
• We provide a resource for your questions about potential abuse
