God Has Something Better for You

“...since God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.” — Hebrews 11:40 (ESV)

Hebrews chapter 11 is famously known as the Bible's "Hall of Faith". It is filled with the sweeping, epic stories of heroes like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David. These ordinary men and women conquered kingdoms, shut the mouths of lions, and endured unimaginable hardships out of pure devotion to God. Yet, the chapter ends with a surprising, almost jarring twist: “And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised...” (Hebrews 11:39).

Think about that for a moment. They spent their entire lives waiting, hoping, and looking toward a horizon they couldn't quite see.

Then comes verse 40, which reveals God’s beautiful, grand design. God planned something better for us. The "something better" is the historic arrival, sacrificial death, and triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament saints were looking forward to a shadow of the Messiah, but you and I live in the light of His finished work. We get to experience the Holy Spirit indwelling us, direct access to the throne of grace, and the complete assurance of salvation.

If you are in a season of waiting, feeling exhausted, or wondering if God has forgotten His promises to you, let this verse anchor your soul. Your current struggles are not a sign of God's absence. Just as He was meticulously weaving together a master plan for the generations of old, He is actively weaving together a plan for your life today.

The heroes of old could not reach the finish line of God's plan without you. You are part of the exact same spiritual family, running the exact same race, backed by a Savior who has already won the ultimate victory. When circumstances look bleak, remember that God never settles for "good enough" for His children. He always has something better in store.

~Your waiting has a purpose: Just because a promise feels delayed doesn't mean God has failed. He operates on a divine timeline designed for your ultimate good.

~You are uniquely valued: God intentionally chose to place you in this specific era of history so you could experience the fullness of grace through Jesus Christ.

~We are in this together: You are never alone in your struggles. You belong to a massive, timeless cloud of witnesses who have proven that God is entirely trustworthy.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your incredible, masterfully designed plan for history and for my life. On days when I feel weary or discouraged by what I see, remind me that You have provided something better. Help me to trust Your heart when I cannot see the outcome, and give me the endurance to run the race set before me with faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Please be in prayer for this family and community.

Steubenville High School mourns the passing of longtime teacher, coach, colleague, and friend, Joe Pierro.

Yesterday, the Big Red family suffered a tremendous loss with the sudden passing of a man who dedicated so much of his life to serving and inspiring young people.

Joe Pierro was more than a teacher and coach. He was a mentor, a role model, a motivator, and a friend. Through his years in the classroom and on the playing field, Joe helped countless young people learn, grow, compete, overcome challenges, and—most importantly—believe in themselves.

His influence extended far beyond wins and losses or lessons taught in a classroom. It could be seen in the lives of the students he encouraged, the athletes he coached, the colleagues he supported, and the friendships he formed. The lessons Joe shared and the example he set will remain with those fortunate enough to have known him.

We extend our deepest condolences to Joe’s family and loved ones, as well as to his friends, colleagues, former students, and former players. Our thoughts and prayers are with all who are grieving this heartbreaking loss.

The legacy of Coach Joe P. will live on through the many lives he helped shape and the countless memories he leaves behind.
Rest in peace, Joe.

You will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always a part of the Big Red family. 💔🖤🙏🏼

The Wellspring of Grace

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."
1 John 4:7 (NIV)

In a world that often feels divided, exhausted, and running on empty, the call to "love one another" can feel like a heavy burden. We try to be patient, we try to be kind, and we try to forgive, but human effort eventually hits a wall.

The beautiful truth tucked into this verse is that you are not the original source of the love you are asked to give.

John explicitly reminds us that love comes from God. He is the wellspring. When we feel incapable of loving someone who has hurt us, or when we feel too drained to show compassion to a difficult neighbor, God does not expect us to manufacture that grace out of our own limited strength. He invites us to plug into His limitless supply.

When you accepted Christ, you were "born of God." His DNA—which is pure love—became a part of who you are. Loving others is simply the natural overflow of knowing Him intimately.

Think of yourself as a vessel. If you try to pour out love without first sitting at the feet of the Father to be filled, you will quickly find yourself empty and resentful. But when you spend time in His presence, absorbing His sacrificial grace and remembering how deeply He loves you, that love naturally begins to spill over into the lives of those around you.

Today, let go of the pressure to manufacture perfect love on your own. Instead, focus on knowing God and letting Him love you. As you rest in His affection, He will give you the supernatural strength to extend that same grace to a world that desperately needs it.

Prayer
Abba Father, thank You for being the ultimate source of all love. Forgive me for the times I try to operate on my own strength and end up empty. Today, I ask You to flood my heart with a fresh awareness of Your grace. Let your love overflow from my life so that others might see You through me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In Christ,
Pastor Keith
