Franciscan Sisters, T.O.R. of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother Founded in 1988, we the Franciscan Sisters, T.O.R. of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother, are committed to making known God's merciful love. Francis of Assisi.
(1171)

(Third Order Regular) of Penance of the Sorrowful Mother, follow the contemplative-active way of life of our founder, St. Our Mission in the world is to make known God's merciful love as consecrated contemplatives comitted to prayer, penance, and works of mercy. Our mission is made tangible by our ministry among the poor, the sick and those in need of the good news of the Gospel through various wo

rks of evangelization. We seek to witness to the infinite love of God the Father and to Christ's spousal love for His Bride, the Church, as we stand with Mary, our Mother, at the foot of the Cross to intercede for the needs of the world. Our life is centered on the Gift of the Eucharist, Holy Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Liturgy of the Hours, the prayer of the Rosary, and devotion to Divine Mercy.

"O sublime humility!
O humble sublimity!
That the Lord of the universe, God and the Son of God, so humbles Himself that for our salvation He hides Himself under the little form of bread!" - St Francis

On this Corpus Christi, the King of Kings was processed around our Motherhouse property. May we never lose our wonder!

"In every kind of chapter they have, let them 'seek first the kingdom of God and its justice' and exhort one another to observe this rule which all have professed more exactly, as well as how they might more faithfully follow in the footprints of Our Lord Jesus Christ." TOR Rule 25

Our General Chapter is now in session! On Wednesday, Mother Della Marie officially opened the Chapter! We then had an opening Mass of the Holy Spirit with Fr. Jonathan St. Andre, TOR.

General Chapter is the highest governing body of our community, which occurs every 6 years. In Chapter, major community decisions are made, including our leadership for the next term. Please keep us in your prayers in this next week!

🌿 We were blessed to have some lovely women visit us for our vocation discernment retreat this past weekend! The retreatants listened to talks about our way of life, heard personal testimonies, had time for individual and communal prayer, toured a hermitage, and had the opportunity to explore our property and meet some of our furry residents. 🐮If you’re interested in attending one of our retreats in the fall, you can find more information on our website under the Vocations tab. Please continue to keep these ladies in your prayers!
